A glimpse into my world

I've always been a bibliophile. Emphasis on always. Anyone who claims to know me but has no idea, how much of a page turner I am is simply deluding himself.

I've been a reader as far back as the moment I grasped the alphabets. It began with reading the Holy Bible, moving onto the kid's storytime version of it, children's story books, novellas, novels and whatnots.

If there's anyone I would respectfully give credit to when it comes to my love for books and reading, it's my dad. One thing I would always remain grateful to him for.

Back then, he had sat me down by his bedside daily and marked out Bible verses and chapters and other little books for me to read and give him a summary of what I understood.

This pattern of activity is exactly why today, I can call out reading as one of my favourite hobbies.

The habit of reading stuck with me from then till date, something I don't bother to conceal from others and even if I wish to, it's way too obvious given that I'd never let a book pass me by.

Growing up, I've come to fall more in love with certain genres out of all and that, as expected, leads to me reading more of my preferred ones and less of the rest. Thrillers, romance, mystery, horror, paranormals.

Hand me a book that falls within any of these genres and watch me slip into a world beyond. Which I call my world of words... and more. Where nothing else literally matters.

Sadly, any book lover would agree with me that the cost of books overtime has been quite pricey... Sighs.
That led me to seek soft copies online through websites like Ocean of pdf and apps like Wattpad, Good novel...

Hence, I've had to switch from hardcopies to soft, reluctantly. I don't know if it's just me but every book I've laid my hands on always seems to possess a beguiling smell, calling me in.

Once in a while, I'm still lucky to get my hands on a few hard copies which I don't hesitate to dive in, grinning as I flip through the pages, drowning in the words and smell of the book.

That probably hints that I don't fancy audiobooks. I tried it sometime ago for the very first time and it turned out to be much more effective than any lullaby as I slept off barely two minutes into the narration.

The vibes, thrills, shrills and emotions which flows through me while reading to myself was entirely absent so that left me with the option. Either I read... or I read, hehehe.

And if the audiobook has an AI voice, it gets even worse; it's truly bland and monotonous, a nightmare.

As for the smell of books, it's captivating; I remembered it and sighed.
