Love shattered them: Only one can win [ENG-ESP]

Sakura Haruno or Mikasa Ackerman?

Two female characters full of complexity and, in one way or another, connected to someone by love. They're different from each other, though each, in her own way, shows that true friendship must be accompanied by loyalty and courage. Amidst others' longings, a conflict greater than their own feelings surrounds them. Danger, death, and loneliness relentlessly pursue them on the path they try to forge to find happiness.

They are born warriors. Mikasa thinks with a cool head. She's stern, talented at eliminating danger and protecting the one who gave her the scarf she never takes off. Sakura is more objective. Her feelings dominate her, and in the sadness of seeing the one she's always loved leave, she seeks to be strong. Both have seen many of their friends die. Both have faced adverse and complex situations... but only one of them was finally able to be with her soulmate.

Two interesting characters, but with very different endings. One saw the return of her love to end an era of destruction, while the other had to eradicate her love to save the world.

Which of the two is better?

Sakura

Ever since I started watching Naruto, I understood that Sakura was like that differential bridge between Sasuke and our protagonist. From the beginning, she was presented to us as a quite intelligent and, as far as possible, strong woman. Being the only girl among two men, who turned out to be the strongest in the anime, it was quite obvious that her role would be more limited to the "emotional" branch.

In a large part of the episodes, especially those of Shippūden, I noticed how Sakura's sentimental side was more exploited. It was common to see her cry, something understandable given the situations she faced with Naruto, and Sasuke's absence, which affected her quite a bit. Beyond that, her evolution as a character was exceptional. Little by little she shed her own illusions, especially those linked to love.

The big turning point came when Sakura, almost sent to her grave by Sasuke (if not for Kakashi), saw her great love for what he truly was at that moment: a dangerous enemy, blinded by nefarious ambition, free from the cold but innocent boy she once knew.

The breaking of that illusion led her to a more palpable maturity. Beyond the final events, in which after so many adversities, she managed to reunite with Sasuke and, at last, join him. Her progress as a medical ninja made her worthy of belonging to Team 7, because although Naruto and Sasuke achieved heroic feats, she also managed to incorporate herself with her talent and her healing jutsus, being of great support in the strongest wars and fights.

Mikasa

Mikasa was a very emblematic character for me. First, because from the beginning she acted as the most reasonable of the team, being that restraining wall for some of Eren's excessive actions, who was always a volatile person. Of course, she had a darker past, largely healed with Eren's help and the connection she had with him. Hence that unconditional scarf, which gave her the warmth no one else had given her before. She loved him, but he, absent, did not reciprocate even much later.

Mikasa is colder, of course. Her love and her bravery led her to defend her friends at all costs. She proved to be a powerful warrior, with astonishing talent for using the three-dimensional maneuvering gear. She was a formidable woman, not only for her gallantry and skill, but also for her own conviction. She made it clear what she was willing to sacrifice to keep her loved ones safe, especially Eren, with whom she had a very strong affectionate bond.

But even Mikasa, an austere and strong woman, had to face adversity for love. When Eren began to distance himself, and use his power to implement a plan that sought to "defend his own," Mikasa began to see the true face of the person she had always loved. The great turning point came when Eren himself, in front of a surprised Armin, told her that he hated her with all his heart.

Mikasa had the hardest part: to kill the one she loved all her life. In the end, she had to make the decision and, absolved of all feeling, symbolically break a bond that no longer made sense. Even so, she ended up honoring Eren's memory, understanding the price of his sacrifice, and the harsh destiny that led her to seal it.

The best?

Without a doubt, Mikasa has the more appealing background and story of the two. From the beginning, she faced complex and dark challenges, enduring the loss of several of her friends and then, the disdain of the one she considered her true love. She was a character who always thought with a cool head, and who is capable of everything to preserve her friends.

In the end, she had to break against her own honor and family paradigm. Being an Ackerman, she overcame the dictates of her own blood, and the love of her heart, to put an end to Eren. She never stopped loving him, she suffered for him until eternity... she even guarded him in the tree where his bones remained, perhaps waiting for the day when their souls would reunite.

End of the battle!

Which one is the best for you?

¿Cómo debe ser el personaje femenino perfecto?

¿Mikasa Ackerman o Sakura Haruno?

True true I love Mikasa and I still feel bad about the ending of AOT, I wanted it to end differently. But what can I do about it, I think she's one of the best female lead I have seen so far. Your review is at point! Great post 🌷

Mikasa's fate was not the most pleasant, and in the end she had to bear many burdens, including the weight of Eren's sacrifice. Without a doubt, she is one of the most interesting female characters in anime.

Both characters are terrible! Many people will disagree, but Sakura is a flat character. She is poorly constructed and has little relevance to the story.

In Misaka's case, it's chaotic. Although she has thousands of emotions for me, she is one of the least impactful characters in the anime industry. Mainly, her personality sucks.

The end of the story is a kind of romantic quest in a world full of monsters that eat humans. The concept is gore, not romance, let alone drama.

Both characters have a role in the manga. They are meant to be important, but they are not the center of everything. Personally, I like Sakura better (I never thought I'd say that, xd). However, I consider Bulma, Kagome, Nami, Rukia, Nico Robin, and Miss Wednesday to be the best female characters.

In Naruto, the one who stands out the most is Tsunade Senju, xd.

The world of anime is so vast that opinions always differ between one anime and another, as do characters, narratives, and outcomes... that's the beauty of it, there will always be a different approach and a different way of seeing and enjoying each story.

Bulma... there's a reason she's the favorite waifu of many :P

Cheers, bro!

This story really draws you in with its intense emotions and complex characters. The theme of love and rivalry is so compelling and makes you wonder what choices they’ll make next. Thanks for sharing such a powerful and thought-provoking piece.

I only watched SNK, but I am aware that both Mikasa and Sakura have suffered and fought hard for their true love, and the ending of Eren and Mikasa was both epic and sad for me 😢 They gave a different ending to the “happily ever after” and that is why I consider SNK to be one of the best stories I have ever seen 💔 Mikasa was a warrior from a very young age after witnessing the murder of her parents, yet she never lost her humanity and always fought to defend those she loved ❤️ She is undoubtedly a great character 😍

I can't say anything about Sakura because I haven't seen Naruto, so I don't know her story, but I have no doubt that she was a great character hehe
