Hello everyone! I hope you all are fine Ad having a good day there, I was looking through my Hive feed and I came across this amazing community where people can post original content about different things and learn Together.

So I have decided to share here some Medical knowledge about different Diseases as I am studying Clinical Medicine and about to graduate this year in June. I want to share Medicine knowledge here on Hive which I study.

Today I want to talk about BIRTH ASPHYXIA.

WHAT IS BIRTH ASPHYXIA;
It is basically a condition found in kids where the next born kids are unable to breathe because they can't get sufficient oxygen due to various problems. The problems can be fetal's own problems like the unusual wrapping of umbilical cord around the fetus, Anemia or Cephalopelvic Disproportion etc or it can be due some Infections or maternal problems like Pre-Eclympsia etc too.

POSSIBLE RISKS IF NOT TREATED ON TIME:
If a new born baby can't take enough oxygen inside to breathe so that also means that he can't get the Carbon dioxide trapped inside His lungs and carbon dioxide is basically an acid so metabolic acidosis will occur.

So our body cells cannot work properly in Acidic environment that's why the blood and oxygen supply to most organs can be affected and multiple organ damage can occur like Cerebral edema, heart failure and more so we need to correct this problem of the new born baby Asap.

HOW TO INVESTIGATE;
There's a formula made for investigating if the baby is in a stable condition or not Which s called APGAR score.

It is basically Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, Respiration. We'll look at the fetus and examine all of these things for him and if the APGAR score is 0-3, it means the baby needs immediate resuscitation. If The APGAR score is 4-7, it means the baby may need a little bit of help and if the APGAR score is about 8-10, it means the baby is normal.
