Vulture in tree / Zamuro en árbol

Of course, there are many things I haven't seen in nature yet, and until yesterday, one of them was a vulture standing on top of a tree.

Por supuesto que hay muchas cosas que aún no he visto en la naturaleza, y hasta ayer, una de ellas era un zamuro parado en la copa de un árbol.

I see vultures, which we call zamuros here in Venezuela, every day in many parts of the city, whether flying, on building roofs, in windows, or other places, but I had never seen one in a tree. Yesterday afternoon, after 6:00 p.m., I went out onto the balcony and was surprised to see it perched on a nearby tree. Its shiny black color contrasted with the intense green of the tree's leaves.

A los buitres, que aquí en Venezuela llamamos zamuros, los veo a diario en muchas partes de la ciudad, ya sea volando, sobre techos de edificios, en ventanas, y otros lugares, pero nunca había visto uno en un árbol. Ayer en la tarde, después de las 6:00 pm, salí al balcón y me sorprendí al verlo posado en un árbol muy cercano. Su color negro brillante contrastaba con el verde intenso de las hojas del árbol.

I looked at it, it looked at me, and I decided to take some pictures. I thought it would get scared and fly away quickly because I was moving from side to side while taking the pictures, but no, it stayed there posing for me, delighted with life. It even moved to another branch, turned around, cleaned its wings, and ate some flowers that were there. This friend was very friendly 😊.

Lo miré, me miró, y decidí tomarle unas fotos. Pensé que se asustaría y se iría rápido porque me estaba moviendo de un lado a otro mientras hacía las fotos, pero no, se quedó allí posando para mí, encantado de la vida. Incluso se movió a otra rama, giró, se limpió sus alas y comió unas flores que había allí. Fue muy simpático este amigo 😊.

These scavenger birds, which many people dislike, play a vital role in nature because, among other things, they clean the ecosystem of decaying organisms and thus prevent the spread of disease.

Estas aves carroñeras que a muchas personas no les gustan, tienen una función vital en la naturaleza, porque entre otras cosas, limpian el ecosistema de organismos en descomposición y así evitan la propagación de enfermedades.

The photo shoot ended and then it started to rain, but the vulture was still there. At night I went out to check and it hadn't left; I guess it slept in the tree.

La sesión fotográfica terminó y luego empezó a llover, pero el zamuro seguía allí. En la noche salí a ver y no se había ido, supongo que durmió en el árbol.
