Trabajando en el Kilómetro 0 de Venezuela - Concurso TBT: una foto, una historia, un día de esos [ESP-ENG]

Hoy es 1ro de mayo, Día del Trabajador, y para participar por primera vez en esta iniciativa, vengo a compartir una experiencia laboral. Soy periodista y trabajé varios años como reportera de la fuente cultural, y uno de esos días de pauta me tocó ir al Kilómetro 0 de Venezuela, el cual está ubicado en la Autopista Valle-Coche de Caracas.

Allí, la alcaldía estaba construyendo un monumento conmemorativo para honrar la memoria de los indígenas venezolanos, como Guaicaipuro, y además una institución cultural, el Museo Ambiental de la Pira (Amaranthus Tricolor-amaranthaceae), una planta también conocida como hierba Caracas.

Fuimos temprano en la mañana, entrevisté a los encargados del proyecto y luego junto al reportero gráfico que me acompañó, nos hicieron el recorrido por toda el área, lo más llamativo de esta especie de parque era una pirámide, allí iba a funcionar el museo.

La estructura ya tenía hecha toda la base de concreto y también estaban instalados los tubos metálicos que daban forma a la pirámide. Nos permitieron entrar para que el reportero gráfico hiciera su trabajo, y mientras él estaba abajo, yo subí y me hizo esta foto que les comparto.

Unos meses después este complejo fue inaugurado, y la pirámide, a la cual le pusieron unos cristales rojizos, siguió siendo lo más llamativo de este espacio. Según el proyecto, iban a ser tres pirámides, pero al final sólo construyeron una, la cual se mantiene allí, rodeada de áreas verdes, aunque no sé si aún alberga al museo. ¿Han visto alguna vez este lugar? Today is May 1st, Workers' Day, and to participate for the first time in this initiative, I’m here to share a work experience. I am a journalist and I worked for several years as a cultural reporter, and one of those days I went to Kilometer 0 of Venezuela, which is located on the Valle-Coche Highway in Caracas.

There, the mayor's office was building a memorial to honor the memory of indigenous Venezuelans, such as Guaicaipuro, and also a cultural institution, the Environmental Museum of the Pira (Amaranthus Tricolor-amaranthaceae), a plant also known as Caracas grass.

We went early in the morning, I interviewed the people in charge of the project and then together with the photojournalist who accompanied me, we were given a tour of the whole area, the most striking feature of this kind of park was a pyramid, where the museum was going to operate.

The structure already had a concrete base and the metal tubes that gave shape to the pyramid were also installed. We were allowed to enter so that the photojournalist could do his job, and while he was downstairs, I went up and he took me this photo that I share with you.

A few months later this complex was inaugurated, and the pyramid, to which they put some reddish crystals, continued to be the most striking feature of this space. According to the project, there were going to be three pyramids, but in the end they only built one, which is still there, surrounded by green areas, although I don't know if it still houses the museum.
