Environment Day should be every day / Día del Ambiente debe ser todos los días
There are still pristine places to enjoy on earth, as we see in these photos, but for how long?
Todavía quedan lugares prístinos para disfrutar en la tierra, como vemos en estas fotos, pero ¿por cuánto tiempo?

According to the United Nations, every year humanity produces more than 400 million tons of plastic, and of that enormous amount, less than 10% goes to recycling. In addition, some 11 tons end up in the seas, lakes and rivers around the planet, affecting to a lesser or greater extent all forms of life.

Today June 5 is World Environment Day, a date chosen by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to raise awareness about the conservation of the only place we have to live. I believe that as things stand, it is time for every day to be Environment Day, and with concrete actions.

Creo que como están las cosas, es para que todos los días sean Día del Ambiente, y con acciones concretas.
In the 20th century and so far in the 21st century, the planet has suffered accelerated damage, industrialization, consumerism and the lack of effective policies to take care of the environment have caused nature to be in emergency: global warming, air, water and soil pollution, deforestation, extinction of animals, among many other problems.
I always ask myself, what can we do as individuals? I think we can all contribute something from our habits, lower the unnecessary consumption of things, take care of our garbage, participate in environmental campaigns, among others, and of course, at the state level the first thing is environmental education, without that there will be no awareness, and then laws and tougher penalties and above all to be applied. What do you think?

I totally agree with you and I do my best to leave behind me the smaller environmental footprint I can. Not because I expect to see a result or to set an example. I do so because it just feels right. But the truth is that I have lost faith in the human race.
Homo erectus lived on this planet for 1,5 to 2 millions years and we consider them a lesser species. Homo sapiens (how ironic to call ourselves sapiens, which means wise) on the other hand, has managed to bring the planet in critical condition in 200.000 - 300.000 years of existence. It is obvious that we are determined to extinct in much less time than erectus and to destroy the planet and as many other species as we can ,on the way.
Or maybe, I am just old and disappointed and the next generations will figure out what they have to do to make things right again :)
Cheers!
Exactly, I still contribute what I can because it makes me feel good about myself, and losing faith in humanity happens to me almost daily. What we have reached with destruction, we can't say we are “the species that reasons”, what a joke!
Cheers!
I just saw this documentary
that you may like. It gives a clear view of the paranoid road that mankind has taken and a small window of hope too.
Thank you! I saved it to watch this weekend 😉.
