My Spending Choices Overtime.

It wasn't until just a few years ago that I could buy things for myself. And having the ability to do that, I didn’t really have any good plans.
I would literally spend all the money I have at that point because I’ve always thought that it would get some money again from somewhere.

The first time I made a huge purchase was when I got myself an iPhone. I had a Samsung, which I really liked. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I begged for them to get me that phone because everyone at home had a Samsung, and I wanted to be part of it too.

This ‘wanting to be part’ is what led me to the decision to get an iPhone. It was like that’s “what’s up “ and I didn’t want to be left behind.

But I didn’t have the money for it, and no one was willing to buy it for me.
I don’t know how, but I managed to convince my mom to give me the amount and that I would sell the Samsung and give her the money.

Of course, I was filled with joy when I finally got the phone. My friends were more excited than me😂.
We could be in the hostel on a weekend, and they would just dress up, pick up the phone, and take pictures. I didn’t even make use of the camera as much as I did.
But I got tired of the phone. I had worked for my sister over the vacation, so when I was going back to school, I had a good amount. So I went ahead and upgraded the phone. Did I have any money after that? No. But I was happy I did it anyway.

This new phone, with time, made me realize there’s really nothing exciting about these iPhones.
It made me realize I should focus on what it can do for me rather than the image it gives me. And so I threw away the thought that I have an iPhone.

I just have a phone that has so many features that can make work easier for me.

My phone has literally everything that I need at any point in time for my daily activities. I know that’s what everyone’s phone does, but it’s really like my best friend. It’s helpful to me in so many ways, and I learn so much from it daily.
And I’ve had it for over 2 years now, and having improved my financial knowledge, I still believe that’s one thing that I did right.
When I read the topic of this post, the only thing that came to mind was my phone. I decided to give it some time to think about it, but it’s still the same. Probably because every other thing I’ve bought didn’t last or no longer serves its purpose.

On the flip side, I can’t think of an exact purchase that was really bad. I did buy some EarPods one time, but they didn’t last a month. I still have it with me hoping that one day I will try it and it would start working again😂.

But the most purchases I would regret making were clothes and shoes/sneakers. I always have my wardrobe filled with clothes, but there are some specific things that I like to wear. So every time I decide to buy new clothes, there’s always a high possibility I will never wear them. After a while, I just have to give them out and create space.
I bought some sneakers, probably during COVID. I was so excited that I would be wearing them around campus. For almost two years or more, I never wore them.
The day I decided it was time to make use of them, I wore it to class, and on my way back, the sole was removed from the rest of it. It was quite funny, but also annoying and painful.
I was low-key pissed that I didn’t get to enjoy them and that my money was going to waste. I still had to walk with one shoe back to the hostel, avoiding anyone I met on the way. A waste of drip😂.

I always complain of not having anything to wear but I have so many. I don’t really know how you guys do it but once I start wearing one set of clothing, I’m stuck with it for a long time.😂

I think it has to do with figuring out how to put them together to make a good outfit.

That's exactly the point with iPhones... People, let's say 70% of the persons that buy it are buying it not because of what the phone can offer but just because of the camera which makes them get myopic of wonderful features the phone has... Glad you've discovered this and is making use of the phone well.

I can imagine when you said you avoided everyone you met on the way.. like, who for love make them see am with soleless sneakers Kwanu 😂

Yeah. Aside it’s portrait feature, I don’t think it comes anywhere close to Samsung.

And I was quite known in school too oo. Everywhere I pass, there’s someone that knows me😂

It's interesting how the allure of an iPhone shifted from a status symbol to a practical tool in your life, a transition many can relate to.

There are many iphone fans here. Literally, I 'm also thinking of buying a new iphone. I don't believe in the local purchase of Earphones. I 'm more conscious regarding my basic things like clothes etc. I hope you will be a good earphone soon, it was a good post brother. Enjoy!

I did get AirPods. I just realized at the start of this week that I might have misplaced them. I don’t even know where to search again

😂😂😂 I don’t know why this happens to us all the time. When you don’t wear a shoe or sandals for a while it decides to get spoilt on that random day you plan to wear it. Maybe there are spirits working against us.😆

And after experiencing that several times, I will still think it won’t happen again when I’m wearing something I haven’t worn in a very long time

That " I want to belong thing" with ladies and iPhone is a real deal.😅

Well, well, it's good that the phone is serving you well. Don't you used to have restrictions to some apps?
