The Office Halloween episode from Season 2 is the one that changed Michael Scott forever and basically saved the whole show, before this episode Michael was just this annoying boss that nobody really liked watching, the episode is when he fires Devon and you can see him actually struggling with the decision, Steve Carell played it perfectly showing Michaels human side for the first time, it made people realize he was not just a jerk but someone who actually cared even if he was clueless about how to show it, this shift in the character is what made The Office work longterm because if Michael stayed the same as Season 1 nobody would have stuck around for nine seasons, after this you start seeing more layers to him and understanding why the Dunder Mifflin employees put up with his crap, honestly one of the most important episodes of the entire series.
