Morning Walk on Sunday at Car Free Day
Helooo Hivers... How's your weekend ?
This weekend me and my friends are went to have Morning Walk.
Weekend mornings are the perfect time to reset, recharge, and reconnect—with yourself, your friends, and your city. Last Sunday, I spent a delightful morning with a couple of friends exploring Car Free Day (CFD) around Lapangan Merdeka, Medan, and it turned out to be a wholesome experience filled with laughter, food, and coffee.
We started our walk early, just as the sun began to shine gently over the city. The streets around Lapangan Merdeka were bustling with activity—people jogging, doing aerobics, biking, or simply walking while chatting and enjoying the morning breeze. The atmosphere was vibrant, alive with positive energy from every corner.
After a few rounds around the square, we decided to extend our walk through Kesawan, a heritage district known for its charming colonial-style buildings. The area has this nostalgic vibe—old architecture blending with modern city life. It felt like a peaceful pause in the middle of a busy city, where time moved just a little slower.
With our legs starting to feel the distance, it was the perfect time for breakfast. We made our way to Warkop Agam, a local coffee stall that has been serving comfort food to Medanese for years. We ordered their iconic Mie Bangladesh—a bowl of stir-fried noodles loaded with flavor, topped with crispy fried shallots, a hint of chili, and a soft scrambled egg. It was simple yet deeply satisfying.
To wrap up our morning, we stopped by Kopi Titi Gantung and grabbed their iced coffee milk. Served cold in a plastic cup, it was the ideal refreshment after a long walk and a spicy breakfast. We sat down, sipped our drinks, and soaked in the view of Medan slowly waking up—cars starting to pass, stores opening, and people going about their day.
That morning reminded me that joy doesn’t always come from grand adventures or expensive meals. Sometimes, it’s found in a morning walk, warm noodles, good coffee, and great company.
If you ever find yourself in Medan on a Sunday morning, I highly recommend checking out Car Free Day at Lapangan Merdeka. It’s the heart of the city’s weekend spirit—and trust me, it’s worth every step.
