Savannah canary chick (Sicalis columbiana) (ENG / SPN)

Greetings again, beautiful community Feathered Friends. Months ago I shared a post where I showed some photos of savannah canaries (Sicalis columbiana), which are very common in my backyard, brightening this space of my home with their song and their presence. You can see my previous post here

Saludos nuevamente, hermosa comunidad Feathered Friends. Meses atrás compartí un post en donde mostré unas fotos de canarios de sabana (Sicalis columbiana), los cuales son muy comunes en mi solar, alegrando con su canto y su presencia este espacio de mi hogar. Pueden ver mi anterior post aquí

Yesterday at noon I went out to my solar, and sat under the guava tree (Psidium guajava). There I was observing this space, when I was surprised by the flight, (somewhat clumsy), of a small bird, which landed on one of the branches of the tree. I stayed very still, and when I looked up, I noticed that it was a canary, but not one of the ones I usually see, which are adult individuals, this was a chick, hence the clumsiness of its flight.

Ayer al mediodía salí a mi solar, y me senté debajo del árbol de guayabas (Psidium guajava). Allí estaba observando este espacio, cuando me sorprendió el vuelo, (algo torpe), de una pequeña ave, la cual se posó en una de las ramas del árbol. Me quedé muy quieta, y al levantar la vista, noté que era un canario, pero no de los que usualmente veo, que son individuos adultos, este era un polluelo, de allí lo torpe de su vuelo.

I also knew it was a chick because its feathers are not fully developed, they look like they are still growing and some areas of its body are with the fluff that they are born with. This little animal was briefly on that high branch of the tree, until it turned its head and looked at me. At that moment he got scared and took off. I immediately retreated from there, because I assumed that he wanted to feed on the ripe fruit hanging from the tree.

También supe que era un polluelo porque sus plumas no están totalmente desarrolladas, se ven que aún están creciendo y algunas áreas de su cuerpo están con la pelusilla con la que nacen. Este animalito estuvo brevemente en esa rama alta del árbol, hasta que giró su cabeza y me miró. En ese momento se asustó y levantó su vuelo. Inmediatamente me retiré de allí, porque supuse que él quería alimentarse de la fruta madura que cuelga del árbol

It really made me very happy, because I saw that the canary population on my backyard has increased, which is great. Then, in the afternoon, I was able to see a pair of bluebirds (Thraupis episcopus), I suppose that later they will also hatch new chicks, and I hope to have the opportunity to observe those beautiful birds.

Realmente me dio mucha alegría, porque ví que la población de canarios en mi solar ha aumentado, lo cual es genial. Luego, en horas de la tarde, pude ver una pareja de azulejos (Thraupis episcopus), supongo que luego también empollarán nuevos polluelos, y espero tener la oportunidad de poder observar a esos hermosos pájaros.
