Hello, dear friends!

How are you? Are you ready for the upcoming weekend? I can't wait to read about your adventures here in the community. In the meantime, today I decided to post about a place I visited several months ago, early in the morning when there were practically no people in the squares and streets. I wanted to explore this historic center of an important town called Camaiore. This town is located just a few kilometers from the famous seaside area of Versilia in Tuscany.

This church is also beautiful, too bad as usual I always find them closed and therefore not visitable!

Camaiore has a population of about 30,000 inhabitants and extends from Versilia to the Apuan Alps. Like many cities and towns in this area, it has Roman origins and was drained during that era because there were many swamps in this area, making it difficult for people to settle here.

As I mentioned, in my opinion, the best part of Camaiore is undoubtedly its historic center. The central square of the town is Piazza San Bernardino, which is home to the beautiful Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, a very ancient church dating back to around the 1200s.

I really like these fountains that are often found in the squares.

As you probably know by now, I took my usual stroll through the streets and squares of this beautiful historic center, observing all the details of this place. You can find beautiful coats of arms scattered throughout the areas adjacent to the square on the palaces where the Podestà, the administrator of this place, once resided.
Certainly one of the things I understood is that many elderly people live here, just like in most villages in Tuscany. So, in the morning, you practically don't find anyone because they are still in bed. It made me very happy to see numerous shops and many bars and pizzerias. This means that this place is still alive.

Being an art lover, I also noticed some beautiful frescoes located above the main entrance to Camaiore. You should know that in the 1300s, this place was surrounded by a complex system of walls, part of which has unfortunately been demolished, except for the two main gates that have fortunately survived to this day.

On that day, I had almost randomly ended up in these places; it wasn't my final destination. So, I managed to take photos of only a few of Camaiore's historic buildings and palaces. I will definitely return for a more detailed exploration of this place, which I believe is worth visiting.

I thank you, as always, for the support and affection you show me under my posts. I hope to have introduced you to a unique corner of Tuscany through my photos.

Have a great day, everyone, and see you soon!
