The Palazzo Fabroni Museum in my city (Pistoia, Italy) ^_^
An happy Thursday to all hivers here!
I'm in a pause from my work on art and so I have some minutes to write here. It's a busy time for me because my solo exhibition will start in just one week and, as you can understand, I'm so excited and the level of my anxiety is growing up! ^_^
Today I want to show you what I do a couple of day ago and, sure, it's about art, even if not about my own art. ^_^
Two day ago it was the day of the Saint Patron in my city and there were some events around like the medioeval parade and the Giostra dell'Orso, a sort of new edition of the ancient "palio race" (you can read more about it here). Usually I take many photos of the events, but this year it was raining a little so me and my hubby decided to enjoy our free time visiting a local museum called "Palazzo Fabroni". The visit was free because the Municipality decided to give to everyone the opportunity to visit the museum for free to celebrate the Saint Patron (Saint Jacopo) and so we went there (sure it was not the first time for us, but I like to go there every time I can to watch the artworks).
The Palazzo Fabroni Museum (placed in a beautiful ancient building close to my home) exhibits the Municipality of Pistoia’s permanent collection of contemporary art and also temporary exhibitions of different artists.
My favorite local artist is Marino Marini (1901-1980) and I love so much his sculptures about horses like the one in the following pics:
some details of this beautiful piece of art:
The most part of the museum is dedicated to 20th century art (from the 1920s to the late 1960s) from local artists. There are pieces by Mario Nigro, Fernando Melani, Gualtiero Nativi, Agenore Fabbri and others. There are also some very interesting works donated to the Municipality of Pistoia by the guest artists of temporary exhibitions organized by the museum.
I took some pics to show you some of the pieces there:
The following one is a special one for me, because I knew the artist who made it. This is a sculpture by Valerio Gelli. Valerio died some years ago, but it was the first Maestro of my hubby @paolobeneforti and I knew him inside his lab. He was really a nice old man, a sweet old man full of love for the art field and he remains in our heart.
Well, now it's time to come back to work, but I hope you appreciated this sort of virtual tour in a local museum in my city.
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia
