The long blue hair (oil on paper)

Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all! I hope you spent an awesome weekend.
A new working week is just started and I'm ready to work on my artworks full of energy and new ideas.
This morning, after a good cup of coffee, I placed my small working table close to the open window and so I could start my day painting under the natural light, while I could watch the birds flying around from tree to tree. For me, this is the best way to work with my brushes and colors.

I just finished a painting inspired by a study I made few days ago. I started this oil on paper yesterday in the afternoon and now I can show you the final result:

As you can see, it's the same subject I studied days ago (you can read about it here). I painted that one on a page of my sketchbook and yesterday I painted it using my oil colors on on 200 gsm paper in A4 size. This time I added a coral crown on the head of the woman. As usual, I took some pics while I was painting this woman with long long blue hair so you can see the process too:

Soon I'll add this new artwork to my Artfinder shop (link at the bottom), hoping it will find a new home!

I hope you like it!
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia

Another lovely artwork from you Silvia. I would call it Mother Sea 😍

BTW, When I saw the first photo and read that it' oil, my first thought was how thick it's your paper. Then I saw it's 200 gsm. Is this considered medium thickness?

I like the title "Mother Sea"! Thanks. ^^
About the gsm of the paper, along the time I understood the 200 gsm paper (smooth paper) is the best for my oil on paper. When I work on paper I mix the oil colors with the trementine as the same way I could mix the watercolors with the water, so the final result is brilliant and smooth. Watching them in real the most part of people think they are watercolor paintings, but it's just because the way I use the oil colors on this kind of paper. ^

This is interesting and I bet I would love how it looks on paper. All I can say about oil paintings is that I get angry about how they reflect back light and makes my job a s a photographer a lot harder 😆

I can understand you, believe me! It's very difficult to take pics of oil paintings because they reflect lights. Along the time, for my own ones, I learned how and where to place them to take decent pics, but when I go to an art exhibition it's almost impossible to take good pics. ^_^

Thanks! I think I'll paint a similar one, but with one of my usual scenes about home on the hair. ^_^
