The common redstart (Phoenicurus phoenicurus) in my backyard. ❤️
Hello hivers, an happy Saturday to you all!
This weekend started with a lot of clouds on the sky over my city, but working on a new painting in front of the open door this morning I had a nice surprise in front of my eyes. A little bird (a redstart bird) was flying and jumping around a stone in a corner of my backyard. I watched it for a little time, but after some minutes I understood it was attracted to its reflection in a mirror I placed there time ago. 😊
The scenes make me think about Narcissus, a Greek mythology character, who fallen in love with his own reflection in a pool of water.
There are a lot of redstart birds in the area where I live and they are very nice and small birds, but this was the first time I watched one of them so actracted by its reflection in a mirror. It tried to "meet" its reflection for around half an hour jumping and flying up and down from the mirror.
I took these pics with my camera (a Nikon Coolpix B700) directly from the chair I was sitting to paint, close to the open door, but hidden enough to avoid startling the little bird.
It was a very sweet way to start my weekend, even if when my furry friend Richy decided to go out the redstard bird thought was better to fly away. 😊
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia

Complimenti, sei stata bravissima a fotografarlo in più pose!
Son riuscita a fargli così tante foto grazie al fatto che ero in un angolo da cui lui non mi vedeva. Pare proprio Narciso, completamente innamorato del suo riflesso. 😁
the bird is beautiful and calm, the third picture is my favorite
Cute. I'm not sure I've seen those here, but we are getting a lot of bird visitors since we put out food regularly.
The same here, since we put out the food the birds started to come to eat it. There is a blackbird that come here since 3 here. I can understand that it's the same bird because it has a small white feather on the head. Sweet. 😊
