An awesome park close to the ancient fortress in my city (Pistoia, Italy). ❤️
Hello hivers, an happy Tuesday to you all!
Yesterday, after the lunch, my hubby @paolobeneforti had to meet a man to talk about a work collaboration. The place of the meeting was not so far from home and so, when he decided to go there walking I thought I could go with him and to wait my hubby enjoying some time in a nice park there, where thanks the trees there is always a cooler air.
That park is called "Piazza d'armi", even if the real name is "Piazza della resistenza" and it's a cool green area very close to the beautiful ancient fortress Santa Barbara. The fortress (where I use to go sometimes because it's really a wonderful place to visit) is open just in the morning, so when I went in the park I couldn't go inside of it, but I took some pics watching it from the outside.

Just to know, in the ancient time this area was a military area (because the fortress), but along the time it was used for different activities and, since around a century, it was used for events like the ones for patronal festivals or historical reenactments.
The green area around the fortress is a place where citizen use to go to breath the cooler air under the trees during the hot days of summer, but there are also some corners where children can play ands, in the middle, a bar.
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia

Great Post, Nice Shots
Thanks, Goga! ^_^
That looks like it was not used a while. We have our share of castles and fortresses around the UK. The one in my home town was destroyed hundreds of years ago and there is just a mound now. I liked going there as a kid.
I've seen a few TV shows about Italy lately. You have some amazing old towns perched on hills. They are not so practical for cars, but people seem to want to live there.
True, there are some amazing old towns perched on hills here in Italy and also in my area! There is a small (just few houses) village perched on the hill close to the village where I was born. Many years ago 4 families lived there, but now is almost abandoned because is not pratical for cars, especially during the winter. A couple of those houses are used just for the weekend or in the summer, but other ones are abandoned since around 20 years. This is not the case, but for larger old towns almost "ghost towns" there were a great opportunity for people who wanted to live there: to buy the house for very few money, but just if you live and work there after you restored it. ^_^
