A funny orange fruit and a couple of hours with kids! 😁
Hello hivers, an happy Tuesday to you all!
Yesterday it was really a busy day for me, because I started to teach art to some kids inside our lab room and it was fantastic! 😁
The kids were 3 (2 little boys and one little girl) around 10 years old. Just a small group, but I decided to start this new "adventure" with just few ones so I can improve my skills to teach art to them in a comfortable way.
As you can understand, to teach to kids is different to teach to adults. Kids needs to learn things in a funny way to have their attention along the lesson and so I I studied some lesson to teach them some basic skill giving them the opportunity to study how the represent the real thing adding their imaginazion too. At the end of the lesson there were a lot of smiles around the table and the kids were happy to be here.
One of the exercises we did yesterday was very simple, but also interesting (and funny): to draw a simple orange fruit and, after, to imagine that fruit in a different way!
In the following pic you can see the one I drew after they finished their drawings:
At first I gave them a pic of a simple orange fruit. We started drawing a circle (and this is not so simple for every child, so I gave them some tips). After, to make more funny, I invited them to use to "frottage" tecnique to add the colors, so I told them to put their sheet on the wall and to use the pencils to add colors in that way following yellow, orange and after the red. They were surprised by this way to add colors and they noticed thanks that way the texture of their fruits was more similar to the real one. 😁
This exercise helped them to observe something in a better way, to understand where there are darker areas in a object and also a different way to add colors.
When they finished to draw the fruit I invited them to add their imagination (giving them some examples like the one I draw in the first pics) and it was fantastic!
That simple fruit became a cat, an isle full of trees and different animals and also a giant fruit in a tiny forest!
I didn't take pics of the kids during the lesson (I don't love to take pics of kids in general, as you can understand), but the next time I'll take some pics of their drawings!
This is the table after the lesson:

I can't wait the next lesson to have fun while I will teach them again. ❤️
See ya soon and stay safe,
Silvia
