Wednesday Walk: Side Garden

IMG_6635 B1.png

And now for the side yard!

If you recall my side yard that was planted with Zinnias last year. This year, I planted as much as I could in the space that I have. And this is the result!

Most of the varieties of zinnias are semi-double and double. The number of rows of petals and the visibility of the flower's core determine which of those shapes is which.

These 👆👇 are planted on the North side of the property. In an article last year, I said West side, which is a mistake (north west, to be exact). My house faces the West!

On the other side yard (where I had strawberries, corn, zucchinnis, and where I planted squash last year), I planted more of the zinnias (because they are easy to grow).

I have some tomatoes, but I should remember next year to plant beefsteak tomatoes or any larger type of tomato. I give up on growing tiny tomatoes!

I remember way back when you got your home. There wasn't very much space to plant but you've gradually expanded where you could making good use of what space you have.

I'm just starting to understand the character, needs and peculiarities of the soil around my home. IT has been neglected for so long until last year but it is coming back, and I'm constantly learning the needs of my home. I'm more successful with my tomatoes, garlic and potatoes this year so far.

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

Wow, that 's almost 9 years ago, sis!!! I am thinking that I should repaint my house, but the point is still good. I gave away my above-ground pool last year, and now I don't know what to do with the space!

You will figure it out, sis! It is easy to hire someone to do it for you, but there is nothing like your personal touch (and therefore choices) on how you want your garden to be.
Much !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

What a burst of color @silversaver888 !🤗😊
I think you’re right about the beef steak tomatoes!
So much more satisfying harvesting, large juicy tomatoes!👍😊
Our neighbor is on vacation, she planted yellow tomatoes. She told us to pick all we want while she’s gone.
They are tasty but still nothing like beef steak!😊

What a beautiful yard you have with so much color! I love it @silversaver888 ! The tomatoes look good too, but just cherries and some Roma variety it looks like. Heirlooms and beef steak grow much bigger, that's for sure! I have a San Marzano hybrid which is really good, one of the best tasting tomatoes I have found to grow!

During the rainy season, we see that these flowers and plants become more beautiful because they get water on time and they look much more beautiful and interesting in different colors.

Sometimes bigger tomatoes are better sis! I've had some lovely cherry tomatoes in the past, but yearned for the bigger ones as well. I purchased a Roma plant which is just starting to ripen, and then Home Depot had a 'mystery' variety for just $.98 each, so I bought 2 of those. They too, are beginning to ripen. I've picked some but haven't made salsa yet, although that's in the plans for tomorrow. I'm hoping these beauties are as good tasting as they look!

Thanks for sharing the lovely Zinnias, sis; you DO have a green thumb! !LUV ya much!🤗💜🌻😘😍 !LADY !HOPE !PIMP
