Vintage Highland Mint 1 Oz Prospector Silver Round

Founded in the early 1980s, the Highland Mint is a full-service mint. situated in a 50,000 square foot building in Melbourne, Florida, with cutting edge facilities. Through the years, The Highland Mint has expanded its production base from the bronze, silver, and gold Mint-Cards to a full range of medallions, and the firm currently makes and/or distributes a wide variety of fully-licensed sports and non-sports collectibles, including Mint-Coins and Photo-Mints.

Highland Mint 1 Oz Prospector Silver Round BU

Most know that I love the American prospector. This silver round depicts a prospector crouching along a tiny riverbed and panning for gold on the obverse of the coin. Across the top is engraved, "SILVER PROSPECTOR".

The chemical symbol for silver is depicted in the pattern on the back. There is a rectangle containing the words "SILVER" and "AG". On every side of the rectangle, there are inscriptions. Inscribed at the bottom is the phrase "MADE IN THE U.S.A." and at the top is the purity designation ".999." Within the rectangle, the content "FINE SILVER" is positioned on the right, and the weight "1 TROY OUNCE" is on left.

Although there are no mint marks on the silver round, the reverse has been used on other Highland Mint coins, such as the lunar series, which do contain mint marks.

Their most popular silver rounds feature the iconic Indian Head Nickel (1913-1938) and Walking Liberty Half Dollar (1916-1947) designs on a Buffalo Silver Round and Walking Liberty Round, respectively.

Seldom do we see the Silver Prospector or the Statue of Liberty, which I will show in the next precious metals article. So watch out for it!

Another fine rendition of the rugged iconic Prospector, always a popular theme. And it all started with the 1925 S California commemorative Half dollar wasn't it?

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

Yes, it all started with the 1925 S California Commemorative. I finally have that one, which I bought from a LCS in Hawaii at a great deal!

The Statue of Liberty, and the gold prospector are two of my favorites @silversaver888!😊
I cannot remember now. Did you complete your tube of prospectors last year?

I'm short two American Prospectors, and I gave away one to @ironshield , so I'm short three! They are way too expensive now. I'm just waiting for the opportunity to buy one! You can rush these things. You have to take your time, waiting for the right time to buy them. I see the prices now; I couldn't afford many of them, @silvertop !

Very true @silversaver888
It's hard to tell how the market will turn, they may manipulate it down so big guys can make a profit!😇
You are probably right it's best to wait for the right opportunity!!😀

I know this is one of your favorites sis, and it holds a fond place in my heart as well. I remember what it's like to crouch in that riverbed and pan for gold up in the Colorado high country! It is cold, hard, back breaking work! I could not make a living do that; I'd never stand up straight again, lol!

Thank you for sharing sis! Much love to you!🤗💜😘💞😍🌸 !LADY !PIMP

They did a good job with this one. They actually put in a lot of texture. I've seen some that were just "meh." I think my personal favorite is the Engelhard Prospector round.

For the American Prospector Silver Rounds, Engelhard is the favorite!

I've been trying to complete a tube of it for the longest time!!!

They're certainly not cheap, but then they're also not being made anymore.

I was able to put together a tube of each design for each year, for every year they were made, for my boys.

I also was fortunate enough to snag a 1/4oz 1985 Prospector that is apparently very hard to find. 🙂

Both these coins look very nice but I like the design of the first one more.
