Sublime & Beautiful Sunday, Soup Dumplings, and Silver

Yang Kee Dumpling is a new relatively new restaurant we ate at yesterday that serves Shanghai Soup Dumplings, or xiaolongbao. I was so popular that we (staff and I) waited for an hour before we got seated.

They have a good variety of dishes, and we wanted to try them all. Unfortunately, it has to be spread out on three visits, lol. Our stomachs were bigger than our eyes!

And the stars of the show...

Pork Soup Dumplings

The filling of the steamed dumpling is spiced pork, and it is served with a hot, aromatic soup wrapped in a paper-thin wrapper.

Shrimp Loofah Soup Dumplings

The classic Xiao Long Bao is a steamed dumpling with a delicious broth and a seasoned pork filling enclosed in a thin wrapper. Shrimp & Loofah Xiao Long Bao is innovative because of its filling, which combines ground or finely chopped shrimp with loofah. After that, this mixture is wrapped in a thin dumpling wrapper and steam-boiled until it is well cooked.

These dumplings are delicious, dreamy nibbles! May I say that perhaps there has never been a single, more ideal bite of food created by man?

It is most likely the most well-known meal to emerge from China's Jiangnan province. The term "Shanghai Soup Dumplings" refers to the soup dumplings since Shanghai is frequently linked to it. Shanghai is the largest metropolis in China and the region in terms of population.

And now for the silver.


Through the years, I've been buying miscellaneous silver, all of them 1-ounce silver rounds. I've been attracted to them mostly because they are no longer produced. I hope to show them to you as I continue to stack them.

We've been trying to make restaurant style Asian food at home, but we haven't tried dumplings yet.

If you’ve never tried xiaolongbao and don’t have any authentic Chinese restaurants near you that serve them, I guess we can make soup dumplings at home. This one is tricky, because there is soup inside!

You have to pick up the Xiao Long Bao slowly with the chopstick from the basket because the wrapper is so thin, and you don't want to break the wrapper. Then you transfer it to your spoon. Others put the vinegar and chili oil in the spoon and eat the Xiao Long Bao in one gulp.
I want to break the wrapper and release the soup. Then I drink the soup. After doing that, I then add the chili oil and the Chinese black vinegar with julienned ginger ant eat the dumpling.

The kitchen is enclosed in glass, and you get to see the employees do the soup dumplings! It was so neat. So now, I know how they get the soup inside the dumplings!
