Silver Hand Pour: Duck

This is an earlier work of Jay. Jay Antonio is a silver (and other metals) pourer and sells his products under J Pours.

How can I tell it was an earlier work?

Sometimes, the stamping
is not exactly right, LOL.
Double-stamped,
stamp is not centered,
stamp is unclear...

But that makes this piece unique.

The face of this silver piece is perfect!

Bars made by hand have personality.
They appear and feel really handcrafted.
They might show pour lines,
ripples, or waffle backs.
This is because there is no enclosed mold
and the silver in the mold cools quickly.
Especially if the piece is small.

The thickness or height of a hand-poured silver bar may vary slightly. Almost all of the hand-poured silver bars will be different.

The silver's surface may include air bubbles, textures, and other small variations as a result of the fabrication process. Because of the pouring and shaping process, nearly every hand-poured silver will have distinct qualities.

Compared to highly polished silver, the majority of hand-poured silver has somewhat dull finishes and rounded edges.

The labor-intensive technique of hand-pouring silver is frequently more costly (in time, for sure). Hand-poured silver is becoming more valuable as it becomes less prevalent.

Silver that is hand-poured gains value with time, surpassing that of cast-poured and coined silver; some poured bars are worth twice as much as their minted equivalents. Many of us find the soft edges, dull sheen, and small flaws to be aesthetically pleasing.

I have more to show you.
So stay tuned!

I'll see you later!

No two ever the same @silversaver888!🤗😇
I can see why hand pouring is so labor intensive!😅

I do enjoy poured pieces having those old world characteristics of rough textures, toning, surface imperfections and NO AIRTITE capsule. And thus meant to be studied, admired, wondered, felt, played with, and experienced in hand. At least for me, the right piece is worth it's FUN premium. 😄

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

I like to play with hand pours too... it's the feel of silver!
Most of my coins are in airtites and into plastic containers they go... no fun!

Greetings @silversaver888 ,

Your post is lovely! Thank you for the information and the splendid presentation.

From the artistic design aspect it is the contrast between the perfectly executed duck detail and the rough edges that really speaks.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay
