Silver Buffalo Round 1 oz

One of my favorite pieces in my stack is this 2001-D American Buffalo Silver Dollar, you can check it out here.

It was the first and only time the US Mint 2001 American Buffalo Silver Dollar issued a coin from the classic design of James Earle Fraser’s Buffalo Nickel.

According to Numista:

The United States Mint produced the uncirculated version of the coins at the Denver Mint and the proof version at the Philadelphia Mint. The coins were offered individually, as a two-coin set, or included in the American Buffalo Coin and Currency Set.

The 2001 Buffalo Silver Dollar went on sale June 7, 2001 and sold out on June 21, 2001 making it one of the most popular modern commemorative coins. Prices for all versions remain high due to the continued collector demand for the issue.

After the quick sell-out, the NMAI sought the production of an additional 250,000 or 500,000 coins, but the Treasury Secretary denied the request.1

Buffalo silver rounds have since been produced by a number of private mints located across the country. Since the one-ounce round is the most popular and sought-after kind, all the private mints produced it.

Some of the privately owned mints that currently produce the Buffalo Silver Round are the Highland Mint, the Sunshive Mint, the Golden State Mint, the Silvertowne Mint, and the Mason Mint.

Mason Mint produces one of the most well-liked privately manufactured Buffalo silver rounds. Actually, there are two Buffalo round variants available from Mason Mint. One with the iconic Fraser "buffalo" design from the vintage era of 1913. The other round is bust of a Native American with a three-quarter profile. The reverse is of an American bison, equally innovative!

A truly unique reinterpretation of the "Series 2" Buffalo Silver Round theme from Mason Mint.

But none has come closer to the original silver version, I think, than this one. It has the country's name: United States of America. It has both the mottos of the USA: "E Pluribus Unum" and "In God We Trust". And finally, it has the Year 2001.

The obverse looks very much like the original! It is extremely difficult to say it was not a genuine coin.

And so they had to stamp it as "COPY # BI0027".

This is taken from the US Mint website:

Replicas of United States Coins
Some businesses produce copies or replicas of genuine U.S. coins. In many instances, the replicas are virtually identical to genuine U.S. coins. Thus, it can be extremely difficult for consumers to detect the difference prior to purchase. The Hobby Protection Act requires the word “COPY” permanently marked on all imitation coins and other numismatic items.

Yes, indeed! That was so smart of the US Mint, to choose the Buffalo coin as the model of our modern gold coin!

What's going on here is that a natural gold toned piece or a reflection? Perhaps a yellowish light 🤣

Yeah, it is not the light. It is an vintage round.

Oh ok it looks a lot more silver in that picture 🤣 I have one coin that got a beautiful even gold tone , seen another that a private seller had but he refused to sell it maybe he saw how eager I was for it and thought it might be extra valuable I had my sigma I'm like see it's silver it's not passing gold test but still didn't sell it to me

I really love the series 2 Silver Buffalo from the Mason Mint @silversaver888!
I don’t think I’ve seen any other silver rounds that have this dramatic of a look !🤗😊

Dramatic, yes! I will probably stack it... someday @silvertop , hehehe!
Next year, I'll limit it to gold and those I currently stack. Nothing else! (You wish, !LOL)

Nice silver buffalo's.
I have 8 of the ones from Golden State Mint but
they are only 1/10 of an ounce each. I got them
in a pachage deal a while back.

What will you do next year, @maddogmike ? Will you continue with the way you are stacking now?
I have to think about my strategy. I envy some of the stackers in youtube. They are steadfast!!!

I'm not sure yet. I will keep stacking 4 ounces of
silver a month for sure but beyond that will depend
on what I can afford.

The thing is the storage issue. For gold, I would continue with 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles, at least one American Gold Buffalo. Silver... silver, maybe continue with the Swans, Emu, Dragons, Lunar Coins- there are three of them, Chiwoo Cheonwang and that's it for the coins... the rest should be generics, if ever! Oh but the temptation of buying shinnies!!!

I am thinking (high and low) about my strategy next year, @ninahaskin . I would like to just focus on a few items! For gold, I would continue with 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles, at least one American Gold Buffalo. Silver... silver, maybe continue with the Swans, Emu, Dragons, Lunar Coins- there are three of them, Chiwoo Cheonwang and that's it for the coins... the rest should be generics!!!
This year I bought mostly coins, I don't know...
I'll start now and see how I feel about it, hahaha!

So cutting back is the plan?✂️
We will see how that goes!😊
I'm sure it's hard not to buy shiny new coins and precious metals if you're getting catalogs, emails and other media sent to you regularly.

Everything you own and purchase is a solid investment!📈💰

Thank you for the token gifts!❤ @silversaver888

Yeah, the temptation of shinnies! I'll try to stick to my new strategy. That would be 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles,, an American Gold Buffalo, only 7 silver coins in a series and the issue of the year bullion of Mexico, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Austria, and the rest are vintage generics. Cross your fingers!
