Shadows on my Wednesday Walk

Hello #shadowhunters !

I am from California and it California, spring means golden poppies! They grow everywhere!

I managed to take this photo of California Golden Poppy Shadows.

They produce a stunning orange carpet that often covers roadsides, whole valleys, fields, and hillsides during the spring to early summer. The California golden poppy grows in bushy clumps up to two feet tall and broad. It has brilliant orange, fern-like leaves that are blue-green in color. Their petals can grow up to 2 inches in length and 3 inches in width.


With its vivid orange and yellow blossoms, California poppies are known to light up entire meadows and valleys along the West Coast, where I am from, but they can thrive almost anywhere!

And now to my tree rose.

I love this rose tree! It is called Double Delight, an All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Winner 1977.

It is the appropriate variety of rose to be selected as my sole rose plant.

It first appear as lovely urn-shaped buds.

Then blooms unfold to reveal 35 to 45 creamy white petals tinged with rich, dark red, measuring up to 6 inches in diameter.

Not only are the flowers gorgeous, but they also have a powerful sweet and spicy scent that fills the area.


Every morning, I take my coffee in this side of the garden. I love the creamy white blooms blushed with strawberry red so delicate and lovely. They have a very nice fragrance. Do I tire of them? They are unlike greenhouse roses... with no two flowers exactly the same.

And even when it is not in bloom, the strong shrub has good branching and covers itself with glossy, beautiful medium-green leaves.

Beautiful photos and lovely shadows! I have tried growing golden poppies here in Wisconsin, but they have made it clear that they prefer living California!

Hehehe, it grows much like wood violets! But opposite wet climate and woodland environment... Golden poppies grow on average soil and sunny environments!

Found a bed of white violets in the woods today... There are violets everywhere right now!

I've always loved California Poppies. My mother planted them in the yard as well. I love to see the super bloom on the mountains, just such an amazing orange color!

You have some nice roses too, I love the colors. Flowers just have a way of cheering up your yard and your mood!

These poppies grew wild along our front sidewalk in Colorado, they looked beautiful!😊
I have tried many times to grow them in the Pacific Northwest with no luck…🙄

I can see the fields and valleys filled with the poppies! Kind of like I'm seeing here with dandelions; they create a yellow carpet in the fields nearby. Your's is much prettier I'm sure and not a nuisance like the dandelion can be!

The poppies are beautiful, @tattoodjay ! We used to be surrounded by them when we were just a few homes here in the neighborhood. I'm lucky because it grows wild just opposite the house and one house down. I don't have to go far!
And the rose... it smells delightful!!!

What a beautiful sight to behold. The flowers looks so gorgeous and you captured them so nicely. To know that it has a powerful sweet and spicy scent makes it unique. I can imagine the feeling while you take your coffee ☕ beside this nature
