Orchids and Silver on Wednesday

avatar
(Edited)

Happy Wednesday, Hive!!!

I was lucky enough to have a double-spike Phalaenopsis orchid. So when they were done flowering, I cut one spike at the base and the other spike about an inch below the last flower.

The flower spike was healthy and green in color. So I pruned it about an inch above the node, just below the lowest flower, as I read that somewhere. True enough, a flower spike emerged! The flowers will be smaller and less plentiful than the original flowers.

I was asked if I fertilized my orchids. Yes, I do. Orchids don’t need much fertilizer. And I sometimes use rainwater to water them. Rainwater has some nutrients although minimal. For fertilizer, I dilute water-soluble fertilizer. The simplest way to do this is to feed orchids 2-3 times a month with a complete, balanced fertilizer at ¼ strength. The key to fertilizing orchids is: less is more.

I wish I could say the same for gold & silver stacking!

Gold & silver stacking is accumulating more and more gold & silver in time, lol.

You accumulate more gold & silver until it is substantial.
That is why it is a long game.

Whether stacking is done for a personal collection or with the intention of investing in gold & silver coins, rounds, or bars to achieve financial goals, all view stacking as a long-term game.

I received a Christmas Card from a fellow gold & silver stacker who is dear to my heart! I call him my stacking brother and he calls me his stacking sister!

He says:

May the joy and blessing of the season bring you
a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
Many well wishes my stacking sister and may fortune always find you!

Awww... @dwingsworld, you are so thoughtful! Thank you!!!

A flower spike and a coin on a Wednesday!
What more can I ask for?

Nice flowers! I like the rich color. Orchids are so easy, yes les is more. Unfortunately, they never bloom the same as the original brand new but they do last quite a while. I had some that bloomed twice a year for a decade.

Wow! Twice a year!!
Orchids are very pretty, and the blooms last forever! They are so classy... quietly classy! Unlike roses. I do love roses. They are so gregarious.. and very social. Anyway, that is how I see these flowers, !LOL
Much love, sis ❤️😍

They are a classy stand alone plant! They compete well if you want more blooms, get a few together as long as you keep them in separate pots, they don't like to share.

I was eyeballing buying an assortment of fresh cut tulips to liven up the winter blues and some foto fun soon, I share your love for flowers, it's the color vibrancy. Even in their wilty stage they have some visuals to offer! I like roses too, we tried planting some mini rose bushes in varied colors besides red (they have yellow and white ones too) in the tiny backyard for something nice to look at. I don't know if they will survive the harsh winter but they are cheap enough to replant and they too bloomed twice over the summer. After the morning watering is nice for a photo project.

I somehow have 2 orchid buds coming out again on my orchid that I do not care for properly. Yours is beautiful!

I think the humidity in this room is good for the orchids. You did tell me about your two orchids! It is finally showing buds, yay 👍! Do you plan on adding to it? Your house would be good with orchids!!!

Completely amazing as always with your orchids @silversaver888 !🤗
Do you keep these in a humidity control room during the winter time?
Heating with the woodstove and swings from one above zero to almost 60° in January makes growing these beautiful flowers difficult up here!🙄
On the other hand stacking precious metal requires very little maintenance Lol…… just stack on!😇🤗

I just leave them by the sink upstairs. I think it is humid up there!
Yeah, hehehe, stacking precious is low maintenance! And if I didn't have to show them, they just sit in a box! 😆

Yes, I noted that the humidity is just right for the orchids! I just made that observation with @dfinney .
I did put some of the orchids in the usual spot where I have indoor plants, and ... nothing! hahaha!
I find that I get a lot of pleasure from collecting the US Constitutional coins. They are real money, you know. I can relate to it more!

My orchids outdoors are cradled in branch of tree, rely on feeding from leaves falling within, humidity is normally high, when it rains they get water, no I simply don't intervene...

Coins, jewellery, stamps I have to sort through, nest egg for my sons to enjoy, I feel they will need it long term.
