On a Sublime Sunday

Homes have been photographed and painted for as long as anyone can remember, and this one is no different. People have captured it in all kinds of ways over the years. There are oil paintings out there, sure, but I always liked the watercolor. Did I tell you already that Dad liked paintings in watercolor? That was his thing. And honestly, it fits the house perfectly.

Watercolor has this easy, gentle feel to it. It doesn’t try too hard. It lets the house show up the way it really is—soft edges, real light, little details that matter more than you think.

There are quite a few watercolor versions of this home. Some hang on walls, some are tucked away in drawers, and some were given to people who loved the house almost as much as he did. Each one feels a little different, even though the subject never changes.

So when I look at the painting below, I don’t just see the house. I see his eye for small things, and the way he noticed beauty in everyday moments. It’s more than a picture. It’s a piece of him, and a piece of the home, saved on paper.

!LOL, no, I don't have the paintings in my possession. It is hanging in the dining room at my father's house, along with other paintings. I went there this past weekend.

Hmmm, my father never had any opinion on famous artists or art as long as I can remember except for the art I bought home from elementary school.
