Johnson Matthey B125720 Silver Bar1 oz
I picked up this silver bar from @bulliontools. He was looking to "purge" his "fondle stack". And this silver bar was culled!
It's a Johnson Matthey!
Johnson Matthey silver bars are no longer produced since 2015, when Johnson Matthey’s gold and silver refining operations in the US and Canada were acquired by the Japanese group Asahi Holdings 1. This means that most of the existing Johnson Matthey silver bars are offered as secondary market pieces, originally purchased by other investors who have since sold them off to authorized dealers 2.

This out-of-production silver bar is produced by Johnson Matthey, renowned across the globe for producing superior bullion products.
Although it is a secondhand market bar, it came wrapped in its original plastic and shows signs of toning.
The obverse of the silver bar shows the Johnson Matthey logo, the weight of 1 ounce, the purity of 999 Fine Silver, and a unique serial number B125720.
The reverse features diagonally-oriented, repeating Johnson Matthey hallmarks: the JM logo next to crossed hammers inside a rectangle.
Johnson Matthey silver bars have a straightforward, beautiful shape that highlights the precious metal's inherent value. The name of the mint, along with other pertinent information like weight, purity, and a distinct serial number, are information that offers critical authenticity and traceability for stackers, collectors, and investors alike.
The serial numbers are typically absent from newly manufactured bars. A serial number simply indicates that a bar is older because Johnson Matthey did not maintain track of serial numbers when they made bars in the past 3. The experts can confirm authenticity using the Johnson Matthey symbol and bar measurements.
Do these factors imply that the more recent Johnson Matthey bars are in some way inferior to the more classic ones? No. They remain a prudent investment for those looking to increase the size of their precious metals portfolio, as they are composed of 99.9% fine silver.

I find plenty of these serialized bars at the Coin Show up here in Canada, it's the Engelhards that are much fewer in numbers. I just have a few JMs and one rare J&M 1990 Oriental Good Luck bar in my stack.
