Checking on my Garden

(Edited)

Last week, I talked about
the garden at the side of my home.
A small patch of it is planted with zinnias.

Gardenupdate14.jpg

I thought I'd have more of it,
since it's so easy to plant.

Gardenupdate15.jpg

So I planted more zinnias on
the west side of the property.
It gets the sun from 11:00 until sunset.

gardenupdate.jpg

I also have yellow zucchinis,
although they aren't the best.
It is starting to fruit already.
And there are more flowers!
But somehow, I expected it to be more.

gardenupdateA.jpg

The Calabaza Squash seems to like it here.

Gardenupdate18.jpg

The Calabaza Squash plant meanders down and snakes around the garden patch!

The shape of the calabaza squash is similar to that of a pumpkin, but its light tan or green skin makes it easy to recognize. The gourd resembles a regular pumpkin or butternut squash in that it has firm, yellow-and-orange flesh surrounding a huge, central seed cavity filled with flat, hard, cream-colored seeds.

Gardenupdate19.jpg

Look at the peppers! Aren't they pretty?
They were so tiny for a long time.
I thought they wouldn't survive.
But, it did!

Gardenupdate20.jpg

This one is a different variety of peppers
from the first one above. These are Thai chilis.

Gardenupdate21.jpg

Have you had Thai food? Thai cuisine is renowned for its intense heat, which intensifies and lingers with each taste. One of the most important sources of spices in East Asian cooking is Thai chili peppers, which give this dish its distinct flavor. Thai chili peppers are used in curries, pastes, sauces, and stir fries, and they are very easy to grow.

In another garden room where I take my coffee every morning, I also have Thai chilis.

Gardenupdate23.jpg

And lastly, I want to show you another pepper plant.
Have you heard of serrano peppers?
Chances are, you have!

Gardenupdate22.jpg

I have one plant of serrano peppers, and they are beginning to fruit.
Serrana peppers are medium-heat range for chilies,
hotter than the jalapeño but not as hot as the habanero.1

Gardenupdate24.jpg

The flavor is similar to jalapeño. When they're green,
they taste bright and grassy, similar to jalapeños.

Having a personal garden is one of the best decision because you know that what you grow is not scientifically an experiment from one chemist or what have you.

What a beautiful garden! I would love to have one like that, filled with plants with beautiful flowers or fruit-bearing plants. Without a doubt, it is a job that requires dedication and time. Nature gives us its best views when we take care of it diligently.

Your Thai chili peppers look very happy @silversaver888!🤗😊
It looks like you picked a very good place for your garden, and with warm summer days in California everything is growing so well !
It’s quite a challenge in the Pacific Northwest ….🙄
We get very warm to hot days, then it cools down to sweatshirt weather!😮
Not exactly the best climate for a garden.
You should have a very good harvest soon!😊

Serrano peppers are great for stuffing with cheese, dipping in egg and flour and then frying! Yum!

Your garden is doing well. Mine has had struggles this year; seems every year. We live just high enough and just deep enough in the forest, which makes it struggle unfortunately.

A lovely garden sis! Love ya much! Thank you for sharing!🤗😘😍🌻💜 !LADY !LUV !PIMP

Zucchinis, peppers, and tomatoes are sure to grow sis! Try zucchinis next year! And they are so easy to prepare for a quick dinner... zucchini frittata is my favorite.

Regular Zuchinis is a veggie I will be trying next year, and maybe an eggplant or two.
Keep on growing something productive, tasty and add to our gardening knowledge.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️🥒🥕🍍

Ms. Ravenhill @kerrislravenhill
Once you learn to cook eggplant this way, you'll pair it with everything!

Ingredients
1 medium Eggplant (~1 lb, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick rounds)
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1/4 tsp Sea salt
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1/4 cup Olive oil ((more as needed))

They are actually easy to plant too from seeds. Zucchini squash grows so fast! When they start to fruit, be watchful because, before you know the fruits can be a bit over-grown.

Such a nice garden! I have lots of Jalapenos in mine but no Thai chilis. I have grown Serranos before though. It's looking great! I hope you're feeling good!
