A Walk Through Town

(Edited)

I take strolls in the streets of our town, during sunny afternoons...
and the sun shines most of the days.
It is beautiful out here... and quite nice actually.
We have a tiny downtown, with nice shops and cool townfolks.

I was visiting a friend in town last weekend.
I can't help but admire the Victorian homes as always.

I wrote about this house ☝️ 👇 before.

I noticed that the wooden white picket fence
has been replaced with a simple iron fence.
And the tree in the front yard had grown some.

Awww... and Mr & Mrs Rabbit!

How did Rabbits Become Associated with Easter?
Rabbits have long been a religious symbol of fertility, but fertility has nothing to do with Easter. How did rabbits become part of Easter? Perhaps it’s connected to the time Easter takes place. Spring is seen as a time of rebirth; flowers bloom, the sun shines, many animals enter the mating season, and, according to North European folklore, the witches leave.

According to Swedish folklore, all the witches fly to Blåkulla, where they would dance and feast with the devil. The Germans held large bonfires to scare the witches away, but most importantly, the English ate hares. It was believed that witches would commonly take the form of a hare to cause trouble, and the threat of being eaten was enough to keep them at bay.

We’ve connected the time of year Easter occurs to rabbits, but we still don’t know how rabbits became associated with Easter specifically. Interestingly, the answer doesn’t lay within Christianity, but instead, the religions and customs it replaced.

Victorian homes have so much character. I used to drive though the Queen's Park area of nearby New Westminster to see the Victorian and Edwardian styled homes there. New Westminster is the original Capitol of British Columbia before it became Victoria. Many homes are designated as historical Heritage homes that fall under special rules of restoration, and preservation.
It is said, "This place was an oasis of England in a land far from England."

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

There are some homes that left partly restored. Many owners cannot afford the costs a full restoration and at the same time deal with a slow and expensive bureaucratic myriad of various rules and conditions required.
Otherwise, Christmas time the lights ad decorations are usually amazing.

Lovely-looking Victorian homes. I can only imagine how the interiors look like, for sure they also have many antique decorations at home. They really have that homey vibe especially that they are painted with pastel colors.

I've been inside several of these homes... and you are right. But I have also been to two homes that are ultra-modern inside. Being that these are Heritage homes, they are prevented from changing the exterior, that is, if they want to keep their status as a Heritage home.

Oh, I see... I appreciate the information about the heritage homes. It's nice to keep the exterior design as it is.
Thank you very much for your kind support... 🙂

In this way, when there are beautiful trees in a residential area, they are much better for the health of the people living there and because of them, the area does not get too hot.

I love Victorian style homes, they have so much character. I know in the bay area there are a lot more of them than father down south here. What a great area you live in, and have interesting houses all around.

Those Victorian Homes are beautifully built with those amazing details. And the Rabbit and Easter story is kinda interesting and I never really thought about searching online about that. Thanks for sharing that information.
