A Walk in My Over-Grown Garden

Time is an odd entity. On the one hand, we never seem to have enough of it, but on the other, having too much of it might be harmful. Time has the power to create the most exquisite gardens or to ruin a designed landscape.

My overgrown vegetation, spreading perennials, invading weeds, and hazy garden borders cries out to be quieted!

GardenOverGrown1.jpg

Overgrown garden beds and potted plants may only require a little labor to restore, but some may require a total makeover. Definitely I will rely on my level of ambition as a gardener and the "bones" of the garden.

It can take several seasons to completely recover this overgrown garden and demands a lot of hard effort... plant identification, trimming for rejuvenation, splitting perennials, and weed management are a few skills I should, and intend to, re-acquire.

GardenOverGrown4.jpg

It can be intimidating to look upon an overgrown garden, and you probably don't know where to begin. Gardens that are overgrown and disorganized can be intimidating, but the good news is that you can restore a garden to its former splendor and turn it into a flourishing haven with careful planning and persistent work.

GardenOverGrown5.jpg

Taking small efforts is the first step towards revitalizing and restoring this neglected landscape. I won't be able to finish it all in one day... it is impossible to do all of these things at once. Some things are best completed in order rather than all at once.

GardenOverGrown6.jpg

This is undoubtedly the moment I've been dreading... Clean up! But I now have the opportunity to clear my garden of anything and everything I no longer desire. Any unproductive materials in my garden, such as dead plants, rocks, weeds, and trash, I shall remove!

GardenOverGrown7.jpg

Although it's a necessary step that must be completed correctly, often clearing some space is the most difficult element of handling an overgrown yard.

The best thing is to bring excitement and grab a pair of sturdy gloves and get on with it!

But first, a stroll around the garden and get rid of any trash or just regular rubbish from the home before I begin working on the plants.

GardenOverGrown8.jpg

I see gardening as a giant science experiment. Experiencing setbacks or deviations from my initial plans can be disheartening. But I consider it a chance to try something else the next time rather than giving up on the garden.

Well, that is just one garden room, where I take coffee every morning.

GardenOverGrown9.jpg

My vegetable garden needs tending too!

GardenOverGrown3.jpg

I've been taking it easy for over a month now.
It is high time I get my hands dirty!

GardenOverGrown2.jpg

And that is another story!

How's your garden doing?

You know what is funny? I get those same stupid weeds in my garden as you! The tomatoes sure look good, I've got quite a few that need to be picked.

What a beautiful and relaxing space you have in the back to unwind.

You must be from California !LOL
Actually, it is the side yard, close to the kitchen, with a side entrance from the outside. Sometimes, I think it looks good overgrown. But I am worried there might be snakes in there! You know, all my plants in that garden are potted plants... but you don't see the pots anymore!

You have a good plan! I am unable to take care of the Landscaping plantings around the house like I used to, and they have become overgrown and weed filled. I'm at the point where I'm not quite sure what to do about them. I can't afford to hire a full-time gardener and that is really what they need! The plants that I have in pots on my deck were victims to raccoons and a hungry woodchuck. It has not been a good gardening season for me.

!LOL it's overwhelming at times! I can't do my usual pruning, and whatnot to the plants, and they are having a heyday!
Maybe next gardening season, we both will do better.

We had so much rain this summer that it became a jungle out there. I will almost be glad for our first frost so that I can actually see the river again through the trees.

Gardening certainly is a labor of love @silversaver888!😇😅
I am seeing the same thing up here in the northwest when it comes to plant landscaping!🙄
Dwarf Alberta spruces, that are no longer dwarfs Lol, and apple trees that need desperately pruning!😳
Where do we begin Lol!😇☺️

I am sure sis, that you will have this organized as you like it in no time. I know for mine, I have no real flower garden, preferring pots as it's easier to keep the slugs out of the pots! However, the vegetable garden is another matter. Our weather here has not leant itself to a perpetually fully producing garden, unfortunately. I got some peas in the beginning, but for some reasons, the plants have died now.

The beans did well, but lately, I've not had the time to go and see what needs harvesting. My corn was a total flop. I think we just don't get enough sun and it is planted in the sunniest spot around our home. That's why I chose the location I did. Anyway, I'm hoping for a greenhouse for next year and maybe the heat from that will give me the edge I need to have a bountiful garden!

Take your time with yours and don't over do things. Love ya much sis!🤗😍❤️🌻🍁 !LADY !LUV !PIMP

It is just frustrating... I look at them almost every day, and I have no energy to do anything about it.
Yes, I'll do it when the time is right. In the meantime... !LOL

Although you have a handful here I think that gardening can be super therapeutic. Of course that you will have plenty of that because there is so much work to be done , nevertheless I can only imagine the feeling of satisfaction and joy you will have once you clean it up and make it all nice again. You have a beautiful spot!

My garden is also a bit neglected, many plants burned by the winter frost, but I can't touch it either because my grandfather won't let me, so it will stay like this haha

I hope you can remodel your garden 👌

Hi @elbuhito ! Welcome to my blog.
Now I am curious: why doesn't your grandfather touch your garden?

Are those jade plants in the one photo? The leaves kind of looked familiar. We basically gave up on the weeds at our house. I need to a nice cool day to come and maybe I will go out and pull some. Beyond that, they can just grow. It's not like pulling them doesn't make them just come back!

Yes, that is a jade plant! It started like a baby plant... then it grew and grew, !LOL

I can never take my dog to the park because the ducks keep trying to bite him.
I guess that’s what I get for buying a pure bread dog.

NO one keeps a garden unless they like being in it a lot! My latest strategy is to dedicated 30 - 60 minutes at least every second day. That way it's not so laborious all the time! Today the rain saved me. @riverflows
