A Healthy Green Drink

While preparing for my dinner tonight, I had a refreshing drink. A healthy green smoothie!

I made the drink this morning before I left for work and refrigerated it, ready to be served any time. The drink was chilling in the refrigerator for more than 12 hours. And it was refreshing, even without ice!

What is in it?

It has pineapple.

You can use whatever form of pineapple—fresh, frozen, in chunks, or crushed! A cup is plenty. I supposed dried pineapple would work too, although I have not tried it.

I added half of an avocado.

Avocado Nutrition Facts
One-half of an avocado (100g) provides 160 calories, 2g of protein, 8.5g of carbohydrates, and 14.7g of fat. Followed by one banana.

I seldom run out of bananas at home. That is how much I love bananas!

Ginger may have numerous health benefits due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and other properties. It may help you lose weight, manage arthritis, reduce menstrual symptoms, and more.

This drink is packed with nutrition. I cannot eat all the fruits-pineapple, banana, and avocado, nor eat ginger and munch through mountains of spinach. But to take it as a very refreshing and delicious drink... you cannot beat that. It is good and tastes amazing.

I really enjoyed it!

Here's a rough estimate of the calorie and protein content for each ingredient:
1 cup crushed pineapple: ~130 calories, ~1g protein
1/2 avocado: ~120 calories, ~1.5g protein
1 banana: ~105 calories, ~1.3g protein
4 slices ginger (about 1-inch pieces): ~5 calories, ~0g protein
1 bunch spinach (about 3 cups raw): ~20 calories, ~2g protein
1 cup milk (whole milk): ~150 calories, ~8g protein
Total:
Calories: ~530
Protein: ~13.8g

If you want to add protein, I suggest adding 1 cup of cottage cheese, and that would give you 24 grams more of protein.

I keep plenty of ginger in my kitchen and add it to tea or by itself in hot water. Pineapple often end up on !PIZZA and my avocado often end up diced onto nachos. Bananas in banana loaf. Should this combination of ingredients exist long enough in my kitchen at the same time, I hope I can remember to give it a try.

That's a great idea! Lots of antioxidants and vitamins all blended into one. How was the overall flavor out of curiosity? I bet you probably couldn't make out the spinach at all with the ginger and pineapple. Plus the banana in the background. Great way to get all those ultra healthy items all in one!

How would I describe it... it was refreshing and satisfying... sweet, tangy, spicy, and creamy. I didn't add honey and lemon which would add another layer of taste to the smoothie, !LOL
