2025 Rwanda Silver Lunar Snake Coin

If you have been stacking for a while, do you remember back in 2017 when Rwanda released its Lunar Ounce coin? That was during my second year of coin stacking.

The African Ounce Series was super popular then, and I was always jealous of the stackers flaunting their Rwanda African Ounce coins. These coins always came with a bit of a premium.

The Rwanda African Ounce Series has been a favorite among coin collectors and stackers for a long time. The series started in 2008, so by 2017, it had already been buzzing around for 11 years. Each year, they release a new coin that features various wildlife and cultural themes, making it even more appealing. There was no way in the world that I can collect them. The same was true with the Perth Mint Lunar series II. So, I never ended up buying any.

The premiums (or extra cost above the face value or the value of the metal they're made from) are due to their limited mintage, beautiful designs, and the demand among collectors. So, when I mention that I envied the stackers showing off their Rwanda African Ounce coins, it’s because owning one would definitely be a mark of pride for any coin aficionado!

Then came 2017, and to my excitement, Rwanda released its first-ever Lunar Ounce coin... and guess what, I finally got my hands on a Lunar coin! It was the Lunar Ounce: Rooster.

That moment marked the beginning of my journey to collect Rwanda Lunar Ounce coins.

Awesome memories, right?

I picked up this coin... you can see the date on the photo, mid-November 2024.

Staying true to my passion, whenever a new coin comes out and it's on my must-have list, I make sure to snag it right away.

I can imagine the excitement when you got your first Lunar coin in 2017, it must have been like winning the lottery, for me that picture of the coins together are quite a visual spectacle. Those details and the quality of the silver are what make them so worthwhile, I'm sure it must be a real pride to have them in your collection.

It was such a thrilling moment, @lanzjoseg! Getting my first Lunar coin in 2017 felt like hitting the jackpot. I totally get what you mean—seeing the coins together is quite a visual treat. The details and the quality of the silver are exactly what make them so special. Definitely a proud addition to my collection! Thank you for your comment!

Whenever I read about Rwanda, I think of 1994. At that time, half a million people out of a total population of 13 million died in the fighting between tribes in a short space of time. Perhaps there is peace there now that silver coins are minted with the name of their country. They're beautiful coins.

Yeah, Rwanda's history is definitely intense, especially when you think about 1994. It's kind of hopeful, though, seeing them mint beautiful coins now. Maybe it's a sign of brighter times ahead.

I really like those style coins. I sold mine off, stopped doing lunar coins. I have a couple dragon ones left but that’s it. But the mosaic style of them is really well done.

Those style coins are definitely cool, @silverd510! I can see why you liked them. It's great that you still have a couple dragon ones left. The mosaic style of Rwanda coins is really impressive, for sure. Too bad you stopped doing lunar coins, though!

I did not expect that rwanda makes such coins, in any case, the design somehow does not suit me, maybe I am already imbued with the imperial style of old coins. In any case, any silver is something to be proud of :)

Right? It's not surprising to see Rwanda minting such coins. All coins have this style! I get what you mean about the old imperial style being more your thing. But hey, silver is always something to be proud of, no matter the design!

A very cool coin sis! Snakes are always interesting because of how the scales can be detailed. The same holds true with dragons. Thanks for sharing; much !LUV to you!🤗😘😍❤️🌹 !LADY !PIMP !INDEED

Snakes and dragons do have that captivating allure, don’t they, sis? Mythical creatures like dragons often have a certain mystique and grandeur that make them endlessly fascinating. The artistry involved in depicting them, especially in something as small as a coin, is truly impressive. I'm glad you appreciated it! Have you come across any other coins with detailed designs that caught your eye, sis?
Much !LUV always and hugs and kisses🤗😘😍

I kind of shied away from this Zodiac series with so much to collect in the market I had to stick to one, that is to no surprise the famous Sailing Ships series. That said, I've only purchased the few like the Dragon and the tiger.

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

It makes sense to focus on a specific series with so many tempting options out there, sis! The Sailing Ships series is undoubtedly a classic and captivating choice. Each ship must have its own unique story and charm. And it's great that you still picked up the Dragon and Tiger coins from the Zodiac series—they're both iconic and beautifully designed. Do you have a favorite ship from your collection? BTW, my next silver post features a ship.
Much !LUV to you always 🤗🌺❤️

As far of the Rwanda Series it's a toss up between the 2022 USS Constitution and the 2019 Victoria. Of the entire collection it still is the HMS Shannon.
Looking forward to that post Sis. ❤️

Amazing, the design of the scales is phenomenal.
If I had that coin I would put it in a frame or on a pedestal.

Thank you, @neblomax ! I really appreciate that. The intricate design of the scales is indeed phenomenal, isn't it? Framing it or placing it on a pedestal would certainly showcase its beauty perfectly.

That is a fine piece of Silver you got there. Love the details on the snake, with the rough and shiny surface alternating, giving that 3D feeling.

Thank you so much for the kind words, @alexvan! The craftsmanship on this piece is truly impressive. The contrast between the rough and shiny surfaces really brings the snake to life, doesn’t it? It's almost as if it's ready to slither off the coin.
