2025 Armed Forces Silver Medal: U.S. Army

The U.S.Mint celebrates the moments in American History by creating medals to recognize individuals who've made a real difference or to honor and show pride for meaningful places.

Some of these medals are part of an ongoing series. Examples are the U.S.Presidents, American Liberty (2019, 2022, 2023), and the U.S.Military, while others are limited-time releases, like the Comic Art Coin and Medal Program, which I think adds a fun twist to the collection.

One series honors the six branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force. These medals show pride in each branch's history and traditions.

2025 Armed Forces Silver Medal: U.S. Army

The U.S. Army Medal is 1 troy oz of .999 fine silver. The coin is matte in finish, which the U.S.Mint excels in!

The obverse designer is Lucas Durham, Artistic Infusion Program Designer, and it was sculpted by Craig A. Campbell of U.S.Mint Medallic Artist.

The obverse design (heads) depicts Continental and modern soldiers “at the ready” with the weapons of their respective eras. They represent the continuity of the U.S. Army since its beginnings and its continuing mission to defend our country. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES ARMY,” and “SINCE 1775.”
(Taken from the material included in coin packaging.)

The reverse design (tails) juxtaposes the seven core values of the Army against the U.S. Army flag, with both the flag and its streamers lifted by a breeze. The streamers from several major battles have visible text, including APPOMATTOX 1865, LEXINGTON 1775, ABEYANCE 2014 - 2015, TET COUNTEROFFENSIVE 1968, and LUZON 1944 - 1945. Inscriptions are the Army’s core values— “LOYALTY,” “DUTY,” “RESPECT,” “SELFLESS SERVICE,” “HONOR,” “INTEGRITY,” and “PERSONAL COURAGE.”

Reverse Designer: Emily Damstra, Artistic Infusion Program Designer
Reverse Sculptor: Renata Gordon, United States Mint Medallic Artist

The Armed Forces Medal program started in 2021. By law, the Secretary of the Treasury is given the power and authority to approve national medals.

So when the Mint creates these medals,
it's not just about making something shiny.

It's about telling a story, preserving history, and honoring service...

in a way that I can hold it in my hands.

I really enjoyed reading this. I like how the Army medal shows both Continental and modern soldiers, it really brings out the idea of history continuing into the present. The detail on the reverse with the battle streamers and values is also a nice touch, it feels like more than just a design—it tells a story. Collecting pieces like this must feel very rewarding since they carry so much meaning and history with them.

An excellent Silver medal supporting the United States military since 1776 @silversaver888 !💪😊
We always need to remember our countries history!
I just used AI ChatGPT to trace my father‘s history back to “John” my great great grandfather back in 1810!😍
Medals like these are important to help everyone remember the American history

AI really helps @silversaver888 !👍😊
I have tried over the years to find information on our family tree, and with records being digitalized it makes so much easier for AI to pull records!😊

Sis, I've admired your deep respect and reverence for the United States armed forces as unquestionable considering the contribution and sacrifice by your fore parents and siblings had paid, I'm curious to know what was the reasons(s) you did not follow in their footsteps? Or are you already a member of the Reserve forces? It's just you haven't mentioned it.

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

You know how to surprise me, it's the first time I've seen a coin with armed soldiers. !BEER

Even though it was a historical celebration, I thought it wouldn't be possible to use such an image.
