2006 Germany Silver 10 Euros
I picked this one up because the boat design on the reverse caught my eye! It is my third German coin, which I started my interest when @trumpman started flashing his coins.
The box it came in was marked Austrian Mint, which I know produces commemorative Euro coins, but the coin is marked "J" of the Hamburg workshop. So I really do not know why. Maybe the box was just used to house the coin. I defer all questions you may have to @trumpman since he is the house expert in German coins, LOL!
@kerrislravenhill has this coin too, and did extensive researh on the Hanseatic League, of which this coin commemorates.
2006 Germany Silver 10 Euros, proof
BRD 10-EURO-GEDENKMÜNZE Sterlingsilber: 2006 J 650 Jahre Städtehanse
It is made of .925 fine silver and is 32,50 mm in diameter.
The obverse is the stylized federal eagle, the traditional symbol of German sovereignty, is topped by the twelve stars of the European Union.
The reverse of the coin features ships symbolizing the maritime trade and commerce that were central to the Hanseatic Leagues's identity.

The Hansec culture had a Christian foundation but I'm thinking more as in the structure where as most of the power and laws are in the hands of the individual cities, states, and fiefdoms rather than the mechanics. The Central decision making are by representatives that meet when needed. A small unobstructive federal level.
