1989 Perth Mint 90th Anniversary Gold Bar

The Perth Mint opened on June 20, 1899. The mint commemorates its 125th anniversary in 2024.

In honor of The Perth Mint's 125th anniversary, the 1 oz silver coins featured the Kookaburra coin (1990), the Koala coin (2007), and the Kangaroo coin (2015).

What was the obverse used by Perth Mint for their previous anniversaries?

You probably guessed right... the swan!

Actually, the Australian Gold Nugget, the country's most popular bullion coin, was initially introduced in 1986 and is accepted as legal currency. Subsequently, the mint redesigned the currency in 1989, placing the Australian kangaroo in the center, and renamed it the Australian Gold Kangaroo coin. The precious natural riches of Australia are now symbolized by this currency (the Australain Gold Nugget).

This gold bar is quite substantial and chunky.

What Makes Gold Valuable?
Aside from its literal shine and the symbolic relationship with wealth that has lasted throughout human civilization, gold plays an important role as a store of value and a medium of exchange. Unlike other commodities, gold does not get used up or consumed, imbuing the precious metal with a sense of everlasting value. Gold serves as a hedge against the declining value of currencies through inflation, which leads many investors to consider gold an alternative asset and a way of safeguarding their wealth.

Yes. Too bad they don't make "nuggets" instead of kangaroos. They have presser bars, but casts are better!

I can safely say that I have more gold bullion in my possession than in my teeth. 😁

Hahaha, gold teeth were popular before our time. But the die-hard gold enthusiasts flaunt their gold in their teeth these days.

I can imagine one day gold prices will get high enough that it will encourage survivors to go yanking their recently deceased's gold teeth out before the body get cremated or exhumed for the gold extraction.
