1964 Canada Silver 10 Cents Bluenose
I have both the first-year issue and the last-year issue of Canadian silver 10-cents coin, which depicts the 27-year old Elizabeth II wearing a wreath.
1964 Canada Silver 10 Cents
This 1964 Canada 10 Cents is the last year of minting by the Royal Canadian Mint of Ottawa. The engraver of the obverse is Mary Glick, best known for her effigy of Elizabeth II used on coinage.
On the reverse is a Canadian schooner, The Bluenose.
Built to Race
The Bluenose was launched at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia in 1921. It was named with the common nickname – first used by T.C. Haliburton – applied to those born in Nova Scotia.
The schooner was designed by William J. Roue to fish for cod on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland, at a time when such work was done from the decks of wooden tall-ships powered by sail. The Bluenose was also designed to race on the open ocean. It was the first time the self-taught Roue had designed a working fishing schooner, rather than a recreational or racing vessel. Source

The effigy of Elizabeth II by Mary Glick was also used in the silver Canadian $1 Voyageur coins (1953 - 1963) and the 1958 100th Anniversary of British Columbia with the Totem Pole reverse, both of which I have in my collection.

1921 made 2021 a special year seeing a newer 2021 10 Cents issued for circulation. I found this in my change last week. There is an un-colorized version in circulation as well but this is my first colorized 2021 since its issue.
A 2021 silver dollar version was also struck. I got this silver dollar at a nice price well below it's original issue price complete with COA and original packaging.
