1953 Canada Silver Dollar and Silver 10 Cents

1953 is the first year the Elizabeth II coins were issued. Before that, it was George V (1920 - 1936), followed by George VI (1937 - 1952).

The Voyageur dollar coin series started in 1935 during the time of George V as a circulating commemorative coin for the 25th Anniversary of the Reign of King George V.

1953 Canada Silver Dollar

On the obverse of the coin is the effigy of the 27-year old Elizabeth II. The sculptor and medallist Mary Gillick created the first portrait a light, beautiful and fresh portrait of the young monarch unencumbered by a crown and instead wearing a laurel wreath in the classical style. 1

The reverse features voyageurs in a canoe and engraved by Emanuel Otto Hahn. The coin is dated 1953.

In the photo is also the 1953 10 Cents The Bluenose. This is, of course, the first-year issue also. The last-year issue was shown HERE.

I have that date burned into my memory, even though it is well before my time.
The coronation year for Queen Elizabeth II following the King's abdication. I remember asking my father why there was a different person on the 1952 coin and the 1953 coin, this was when he let me play with his circulated silver dollars quality time.

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

Edward VIII abdicated, and George VI became the monarch until his death. Then Elizabeth II succeeded George VI in 1952, but her coronation was in 1953, I thought.
Have a wonderful day, sis!

Is this the same Elizabeth who ruled several countries in the past? I don't know if I'm getting it wrong, but she was one of the youngest queens in history.

It's been a while since I read something about this, so if I've got something wrong, sorry.

The older the coins, the more beautiful their designs are, so you should definitely buy them.
