With Europe in a state of war, I doubt that the Dutch mint was still standing after WW2 so why not have the coins minted in the US.

Always, with love 🤗🌺❤️

I did not know that the US government minted these coins @silversaver888.....
Interesting that they reduced the silver content to 0.72 instead of the 0.9 for US minted coins.
They must've gone out of the way to obtain the silver blanks....

This was in 1944. It’s worth noting that the Mint itself also produces blanks for certain denominations like nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars. They could have produced the blanks themselves, @silvertop 😊

Hmmm.... 1944... something in this date hints me that the Hollandische state treasure golden supply about this time - surprise! - was moved to the German territory. But I am not 100% sure. If so - no surprise Holland did not mint those coins in motherland.

It was a revelation!
Here is a list of foreign coins struck by the US in the 19th century:

Let me add more revelation! although it is about not minted coins, but printed banknotes. Dont these banknotes look a bit familiar to you (by the style/design) ?..

BDS2_rus_1919_50_p39b_d220917_f.jpg

The history of these banknotes looks rather confusing, and begins in August 1917, when the Provisional Government of Russia placed an order for the printing of "money of the republic" in the USA. While the banknotes were designed and the circulation was printed, several revolutionary governments replaced each other. Only 50 kopeck banknotes managed to enter circulation, 25 and 100 ruble banknotes managed to arrive at the Russian port, but were not circulated. This Russian money is paradoxically similar to dollars :) but there is no mystery or paradox here: they really, really have an American origin. By the way, if I remember correctly, these banknotes used cliches originally created either for design of Mexican or Venezuelan banknotes. Private US mints really served for many countries! NB. @almi, let me alert you on this - you may find this info intresting too.

That is a very pretty coin! Very nice to have in your stack! I don't have one, but since they were made in the US I think I may look around for some now.
