1921- 2021 100th Anniversary of Blue Nose BU
Three different Bluenose commemorative dimes were issued in 2021 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of Canada’s iconic schooner, the Blue Nose. All three were circulating coins.
The obverse depicts Elizabeth II at 77 years old, as engraved by Susan Taylor.
The reverse is double dated 1021 and 2021 and was designed by Yves Bérubé. Numista has a write up about Yves Bérubé:
As a young boy Yves grew up within hailing distance of the huge freighters that sailed the St. Lawrence and this more than anything started his obsession with maritime life. In later years he went off to sea to work on those very same ships and during this time he studied, sketched and painted, always refining his skills. His paintings now appear in film documentaries and on book covers and are displayed in numerous museums and international collections. His art commissions come from anywhere on the globe.
What astonished me was Yves Bérubé also design the 2013 Canada 3 Dollar silver coin of a honey bee standing atop a flower blossom, its head bowed to collect the precious nectar that will sustain its colony.... ala Hive!

I have yet to count all the various Canadian coins celebrating this famous racing schooner, its a bit overkill but my latest version is the 2021 Silver Bluenose dollar with the vintage King George V bust of 1935. This coin I got at a decent discount from my friendly local coin shop in Richmond. I'll eventually get around to it if I remember where I put it.
