The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Peru, which includes the llama-like vicuña, the national quina tree of Peru, and a cornucopia overflowing with coins.
I am no collector, and I'm not chasing coins. I'm letting them find me!
Even better is that some of them found me through kindness. Each coin carries not just an 1888 date, but a connection. That's the sweetest part of my 1888 collection story! Thank you, @stokjockey, @kerrislravenhill, and @silverd510, for the 1888 coins you have gifted me.
1888 coins from two countries that are relatively close to each other, Peru and Argentina.
I have not been to these countries yet. I bet @thebighigg has been to at least one. I don't know if I'll ever be in South America. Maybe.
I found this video on YouTube about the quina tree by Brian Bite. It is interesting.

I've come across an NGC Victorian 1888 Straits Settlement Trade dollar with a few chop marks but the coin's asking price was rather high. Another was a 1+788 (888-ish) Colonial 8R , same sticker shock and its a bit of a $tretch too. Your 888 moniker precedes your value to our community Sis.
