The Real Superheroines of Hive Valley

a webcomic, by Matt S. Law

If you need to fight a giant snake, you definitely want to fight it on land. In D&D from editions 1st through 3rd, fighting in water was a sure way to end up with a TPK (Total Party Kill for the noobs). But in 5th and I think 4th, it was barely an inconvenience. Wearing chainmail? No problem. Fighting with a two-handed club? No penalty at all! Breathing? I don't know if they ever mentioned it.

Now of course Miss Victory can fly and is presumably strong enough to carry a giant snake while flying, so I would think she could get out of the water and into air. Even if she couldn't see, the pool has a lot of glass walls so she could fly in almost any direction.

The real question is: can you use your super flight power while in water? This usually comes up in superhero games. Because there is a flight power, which of course is very common and desirable. But... there is also a super-swimming power. So would that preclude using flight in water? After all, a plane can't fly under water. That's one for the scientists to figure out.

Okay, I think I've rambled enough to call this one ready to publish.

So many questions. I imagine we will see all the ladies put into perilous situations before someone turns the tables, but anything could happen. I'm no writer, but I know you have to build up the drama.

I'm still trying to work out how these superhero masks stay on.

I'm sure it has to do with unstable molecules. The same material that Reed Richards made the FF's costumes out of. So that they can stretch, turn invisible, and become fire. Also, adhere to just about anything. I wore a domino mask for Halloween one year when I was dressed as the Riddler. I kept having to reapply spirit gum to the inside because it kept sliding off. Could have really used some superscience that night.
