Kickman 31x02
KICKMAN, LLC
Chapter 31 "Injustice!" page 02
by Matt S. Law, Esq.
Whew! Okay, this was a slog.
When I changed to the page-size format, I kind of skimped on the first page with just a total of four panels. This page I decided to push the number of panels to get a sense of how much dialog I can cram into a page. I did have to adjust the font size down a bit, but hopefully it's still easy to read.
Had to clean up some ongoing story. First of all, the Justice Rangers arrived right as Kickman was putting the finishing touches on a super-villain nap. So, their support team of Kick Boys are still in the area. Apparently the Injustice Protocol involves contingencies for completely shutting down the entire Kickman, LLC operation in Villain City.
Took a peek behind-the-scenes into Luthor Alexander's (III's) lair--or perhaps Attached Lair Unit (ALU) since he is basically living in Supreme Leader's HQ. After all, he is the one that orchestrated this entire confrontation.
We can also see that Blush and Elizabeth St. Augustine are doing their demon clean-up work over in the Redline District when they receive the protocol instructions. "All Kick Boys retreat from the field of battle... especially YOU, Blush!" Who thinks that Blush will follow those orders?
I scattered dialog fragments from the Justice Rangers/Team Kick conversation along the way then circled back to the confrontation. I figured no one needs a full transcript of their argument. I'm sure most of you have read Superman and Batman arguing about this stuff all the time.
Enjoy today's page. I will be homeless again in southern California by the time this goes live. I have an 8-day pet-sitting gap unless I find a last-minute job somewhere/sometime between here and Laguna Niguel on August 4. It's just as well, I am more productive when I don't have a comfy home to waste time in. I was actually operating with a complete one-week buffer of completed work, but I fell behind again as I had a cold this past week and got lazy again. I'm just glad that I was in a house while I was sick, that would have sucked living on the road.
Unfortunately, I forgot to turn on the "record video time lapse" option in Clip Studio Paint when I drew this page, so I don't have the "Drawn in 60 Seconds" video. I also just realized how cool a name "Drawn in 60 Seconds" is.
So you get this instead of a time-lapse video this week. For a second I thought, "Whoa... was Elizabeth the name of the Shelby Mustang from the movie? What a great cameo tie-in!" But, no, it was Eleanor. So close.
I have been using Clip Studio Paint for close to a year already. and I had no idea such option even was there. Buying Clip Studio Paint was one of my better decisions in recent years.
Yes! Just go to File > Timelapse > Record Timelapse when you start a new drawing. Then when you are done File > Timelapse > Export Timelapse and it will give you some options like file size, frame rate, and whether you want the CSP logo on there. It's really cool. It will make your file sizes a lot bigger, so I usually turn off the "record timelapse" and re-save it when I am done.
Clip Studio has a ton of features that I've probably never used, even with the "lighter" Pro version.
Your comic talent is really inspiring, @sidekickmatt. Good luck with your housing situation, your income and your health!
Thank you, @jayna!
That's a lot of story packed into a page. Some nice drawing too.
I hope your work and travel goes well.

Thanks! Yeah, I've gotten the hang of living on the road. I'm just happy to be healthy again.
