Why I Stopped Avoiding Medical Check-Ups
I used to think that regular medical examinations were unnecessary. If I liked it, I should be fine, right? This is what I believed for years. And honestly, I was also a little scared. What if I went to the hospital and came to know something bad?
I heard people say, "If you go for a check-up, they will only get new problems." That sentence stuck in my head. Until I was seriously ill, it saved me from hospitals. But now after turning back, I realized how wrong I was.
A few months ago, I started having this strange pain in my chest. It was not sharp, but it was almost every day. I kept ignoring it, thinking that it would go on its own. I thought maybe I was just stressed or tired. But when it did not close after a week or two, I felt a little scared. When I decided to visit the hospital.
It was not easy for me to walk in that hospital. I was nervous. My hands were cold, and I kept thinking the worst. But surprisingly, the experience was not bad at all. The nurse was calm and sociable. The doctor listened to me. He examined my blood pressure, asked some questions, and conducted some basic tests.
What else? This was not serious. The doctor said that the pain was probably due to stress due to stress and poor posture. They gave me some simple suggestions- better, avoid caffeine at night, stretch some lightly, and take a break when I am studying too much.
That journey changed my entire mindset.
I realized that going for a check-up does not mean that you will hear something scary. Sometimes, it just brings you peace of mind. And sometimes, it helps you fix small issues before they turn into something serious.
Now I try to go for a check-up at least once a year. Even if I feel fine, I think it is worth it. Our body can hide many things. Just because we look fine on the outside, it does not mean that everything inside is correct.
So what about that belief that doctors always find something wrong? I think it's just fear. Certainly, there can be times when a new issue is discovered, but is it not better than not knowing at all? Finding something early means that it is easy to treat or manage. Waiting for a very long time can make things worse - even more expensive. Although I get it.
Hospitals may feel scary. But when you think about it, regular check-up is a form of self-esteem. It likes to tell myself, "I care to make sure that I am fine." If you are someone who is escaping from check-up as I used to do, then I understand it completely. But perhaps the time has come to reconsider it. There can be a big difference in just one journey in a year. And sometimes, it is nice to hear that everything is fine.
So, whenever I hear someone saying this, "Doctors will always find something wrong," I tell them what I have learned: going for a check-up means nothing wrong. This means that you care about being right. Take care of yourself Your health matters - as much as you think.

I thought it was always more than that. Just like you, I don't like hospital but I don't have any reason to go there yet.
it is usually the fear that prevents us from checkup, thank God you have realized the importance of checkups.
