While imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, stealing someones ideas and passing them off as your own, is not, it is dishonesty, plain and simple.
It remains to be seen why they released it as open source if they thought it would help OpenAI, but then if they copied OpenAI it would be better to release it, let OpenAI analyze it and improve it, then steal the improved version.
