Would you date someone who could read your mind? Today's topic is pretty crazy, isn't it? But we can make a good thought experiment out of it. Let's imagine two scenarios: one in which your partner can read minds and you know it, and the other in which you don't. It's cool to imagine a hypothetical and surreal scenario like this, because, to be honest, I think I would be lost in both scenarios, because I usually let it go and always have good thoughts, but since I'm human, of course at times I think bad things.

So, if I happened to be looking for a woman and, in the act of talking to her and getting to know her better, she confessed to me that she can read minds, I would be screwed. I don't think I would get past this first date, because whenever I meet someone, let's say I already think the worst about them, not out of malice, but out of experience. With age and time, I've seen and felt that many people who seem to be good, in fact, aren't, and those who seem to be the craziest are the most truthful.

With that, this first thought could scare the person, as I said, I always trust while being suspicious, it's my way of being and living these days. In fact, my wife (who, with faith in God, can't read minds) is always telling me this, that I seem crazy for distrusting everyone, especially since I haven't even met the person properly. Well, that's what I am! This situation would certainly be very tense, if this person told me that he can read minds and told me everything he thinks and that he has read about me, I don't think there would be any reason to stay there, just to say sorry and goodbye.

Now comes the worst case scenario: what if I got into a relationship with someone? Let's say I got married to the person, then, after about 10 years together, at a certain point she tells me she can read minds. “Bridge that broke”, I'm really screwed. I'm human, it's obvious that I think negative things, living together isn't easy and many people know that, of course I have thoughts of sadness, anger, joy, tiredness of everything with my wife, she does things that make me sad and I do them to her too, so 10 years thinking all this and she always knew? Geez, I don't even know what to say. I don't think she would accept that.

It's very naive to think that a relationship will be 100% perfect, so obviously she would be sad if she could see what was on my mind. Not that I thought about heavy things, but it would be complicated, at some point I would think something about something that bothered me and then, she, knowing that, would be even sadder. In short, it would certainly be a complicated situation, if people could read our minds, the relationship might never move forward.

I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable being with someone like that, knowing beforehand or finding out along the way (which would be even worse) that the person can read minds. I don't think it would be good for anyone in a relationship. What I always defend is truth and sincerity, but that doesn't mean that no one is free from having intimate thoughts that aren't pure or good. We are like that, human beings, who think about many things and, in the end, we don't even say everything that needs to be said.

Você ficaria com alguém que conseguiria ler a sua mente? É bem maluco o tema de hoje, não é mesmo? Mas podemos fazer disso um bom experimento de reflexão. Vamos imaginar dois cenários: um no qual o seu parceiro consiga ler mentes e você sabe disso e o outro no qual você não saiba. É legal imaginar um cenário hipotético e surreal assim, porque, sendo bem sincero, eu acho que estaria perdido em ambos os cenários, até porque costumo relevar e ter bons pensamentos sempre, mas como sou humano, é claro que em certos momentos penso coisas ruins.

Então, se por acaso fosse procurar por uma mulher e, no ato de conversar e conhecer ela melhor, ela me confessasse que consegue ler mentes, eu estaria ferrado. Acho que não iria passar deste primeiro encontro, até porque sempre que conheço alguém, digamos que já penso o pior dela, não é por maldade é por experiência mesmo, com a idade e o tempo, vi e senti que muita gente que parece ser de boa, na verdade, não é e aqueles que parecem ser os mais doidos, são os mais verdadeiros.

Com isso, esse primeiro pensamento poderia assustar a pessoa, como dito, sempre confio desconfiando, é o meu jeito de ser e de viver atualmente. Inclusive, a minha esposa (que, com fé em Deus, não sabe ler mentes) vive me falando isso, que pareço um doido por desconfiar de todo mundo, ainda mais porque nem conheci a pessoa direito. Bem, é o que sou! Essa situação com certeza seria bem tensa, se essa pessoa me dissesse que consegue ler mentes e me falasse tudo o que pensa e que leu de mim, acho que nem teria por que continuar ali, somente dizer um desculpe e adeus.

Agora vem o pior caso: e se eu me relacionasse com alguém? Vamos falar que casei com a pessoa, então, após uns 10 anos juntos, em um certo momento ela me diz que lê mentes. “Ponte que partiu”, estou muito ferrado. Sou humano, é obvio que penso coisas negativas, conviver não é fácil e muitos sabem disso, é claro que tenho pensamentos de tristeza, raiva, alegria, cansaço de tudo com a minha esposa, ela faz coisas que me deixam triste e eu também faço para ela, então, 10 anos pensando tudo isso e ela sempre soube? Caramba, nem sei o que dizer. Acho que ela não aceitaria isso.

É muita inocência achar que um relacionamento será 100% perfeito, então obviamente ela ficaria triste se pudesse ver o que está na minha mente. Não que tenha pensado em coisas pesadas, mas ficaria complicado, em algum momento eu pensaria algo sobre uma coisa que me incomodou e assim, ela, sabendo disso, iria ficar mais triste ainda. Em resumo, com certeza seria uma situação complicada, se as pessoas puderem ler a nossa mente, o relacionamento talvez nunca fosse para frente.

Com certeza, eu não me sentiria à vontade em estar com alguém assim, sabendo antes ou descobrindo no meio do caminho (o que seria pior ainda) que a pessoa consegue ler mentes, acho que não seria bom para ninguém em um relacionamento. O que sempre defendo é verdade e sinceridade, mas isso não quer dizer que ninguém está livre de ter pensamentos íntimos e que não são puros ou bons. Somos assim, seres humanos, que pensam muitas coisas e, no fim, nem falamos tudo o que é preciso falar.
