The service Military service is a controversial subject in many countries, but many young people seem to be eagerly awaiting this moment to serve their country. Here in Brazil, it is not quite like that, at least from the experience I had when I turned 18, in theory none of my friends would like to serve and be almost totally available to the armed forces. I know it is an important job for many and despite loving my Brazil very much, it was never a dream of mine to be drafted or to follow in this career.

When I turned 18, the moment of truth had finally arrived with my enlistment, mandatory for all males who reach that age. So since it was a long time ago, I don't remember 100% of the details, but I remember waking up early and take the bus to go to a barracks here in the city. When we got there, we lined up and went one by one into a room to talk to a soldier and he asked us some questions, I remember one of them was precisely, "would you like to serve?” And I, trembling with fear, answered no, fearing some bad-tempered response, he just answered OK.

After that, I remember the man asking why I should be dismissed and so I just told the truth (after all, I wouldn't be crazy enough to lie to him). this soldier) who was already in college and who was in my second or third period, I don't remember exactly now and, in addition, I lived with my mother, I was an only child and had no father present, he was already separated from my mother for a long time, so there was no way I could leave her alone for as long as they wanted. I also emphasized that I always did well in school and got a lot of good grades and with that, I ended up practically entering college very early and that this was a source of pride for me and my mother and I really wanted to focus on my studies.

After that, he thanked me for the conversation, I got up and went to another line to wait. After a few minutes, I reached another soldier, in another room, in the same style as the first soldier, there was him sitting on a plastic chair, a plastic table and another chair for us to sit on. I've never seen anything so fast: he asked my name, I answered, he looked for my file in a pile of papers he had there, he said I was dismissed due to "excess personnel" and that was it, he said I could leave and with that I was done. free. Because of my anxiety and security after I realized that that paper was the CDI (Certificate of Exemption from Incorporation) and with that, no service!

Anyway, I was happy about that. Since I was a teenager, it was never my dream to serve in the army, so even though I could choose, I would say no, because it was not in my plans to focus on that. Some information about how it works here is that in addition to enlistment being mandatory only for males at 18 years of age, it normally lasts 12 months. Another piece of information is that it is not mandatory for women, but if they want to, they need to go through an officer training school, which is different from the way it is for men.

Do I think this is necessary or should it end? I don't. idea of ​​what to answer about this. Maybe it's good to have it because it can be a learning option for many people, about values, companionship and a good opportunity to learn a lot in the armed forces, of course, my point of view today is that nothing should be mandatory, just that.

O serviço militar é em muitos países um assunto talvez polemico, mas, muitos jovens, ao que parece, esperam ansiosos por este momento de servir o seu país. Aqui no Brasil não é bem assim, pelo menos pela experiência em que passei quando completei meus 18 anos, na teoria nenhum dos meus amigos gostaria de servir e ficar com a disponibilidade quase que total para com as forças armadas. Sei que é um trabalho importante para muitos e apesar de amar muito o meu Brasil, nunca foi um sonho meu ser escalado ou seguir nessa carreira.

Quando completei 18 anos, havia chegado finalmente a hora da verdade com o meu alistamento, obrigatório para todos do sexo masculino que completam essa idade. Então como faz um bom tempo, não lembro 100% dos detalhes, mas lembro de acordar cedo e pegar o ônibus para ir para um quartel aqui da cidade. Chegando lá fizemos uma fila e íamos entrando um por um em uma sala para conversar com um soldado e ele nos fazia algumas perguntas, lembro que uma delas era justamente, “você gostaria de servir?” E eu mesmo tremendo de medo respondi que não, temendo alguma resposta mal-humorada, ele apenas respondeu OK.

Após isso, lembro do homem perguntar por que motivo eu deveria ser dispensado e então apenas disse a verdade (afinal não seria louco de mentir para esse soldado) que já estava na faculdade e que estava em meu segundo ou terceiro período, não lembro com exatidão agora e, além disso, eu morava com a minha mãe, era filho único e não tinha pai presente, o mesmo já era separado da minha mãe há muito tempo, então não teria como deixar ela sozinha pelo tempo que eles queriam. Enfatizei também que sempre fui bem na escola e tirei muitas notas boas e com isso, acabei praticamente entrando na faculdade bem cedo e que isso era motivo de orgulho para mim e minha mãe e queria muito focar nos estudos.

Depois disso, ele agradeceu a conversa, me levantei e fui para outra fila ficar esperando. Passado alguns minutos, cheguei em outro soldado, em outra sala, no mesmo molde do primeiro soldado, havia ele sentado em uma cadeira de plástico, uma mesa também de plástico e outra cadeira para nos sentar. Nunca vi nada tão rápido: ele perguntou meu nome, respondi, ele buscou minha ficha em um amontoado de papéis que tinha lá, falou que eu estava dispensado por “excesso de contingente” e pronto, falou que eu poderia me retirar e com isso estava livre. Por conta da minha ansiedade e segurança depois que percebi que aquele papel era o CDI (Certificado de Dispensa de Incorporação) e com isso, nada de servir!

Enfim, fiquei feliz por isso. Desde adolescente nunca foi o meu sonho servir ao exército, então por mais que pudesse escolher, diria não, porque não estava nos meus planos focar nisso. Algumas informações de como funciona aqui é que além do alistamento ser obrigatório apenas para o sexo masculino aos 18 anos, ele tem duração normal de 12 meses. Outra informação é que ele não é obrigatório para mulheres, mas caso queiram, elas precisam passar por uma escola de formação de oficiais, o que já difere da maneira como é para o sexo masculino.

Se acho necessário isso ou se deveria acabar? Não faço ideia do que responder quanto a isso. Talvez seja bom ter porque pode ser uma opção de aprendizado para muita gente, sobre valores, companheirismo e uma boa oportunidade para aprender muita coisa nas forças armadas, claro, que meu ponto de vista hoje é que nada deve ser obrigatório, apenas isso.
