I start by opening this post, showing you a piece of news that hit the spotlight on the first of this month, related to IBM, which in this case will freeze 7,800 job openings that can be replaced by the use of AI.

Well, ending this introduction showing the links for a reading focused exactly on the news, what I can say is that the future has everything to be incredible and, at the same time, scary.

How are we going to imagine this future, where people will have to compete with machines / artificial intelligence? Did anyone stop to think that there are 7,800 job openings, which represent (I believe) 7,800 people without a livelihood? People who have spent years studying and who could fill these vacancies?

Where does all the investment we make go? Years of study, suffering transportation, difficulties, late nights, disappointments of zero tests and the joy of good grades, money used, sacrifices, in short, countless consents used to study and grow in a professional career.

Then on a beautiful day, artificial intelligence, robotics, programming full of “IFs” and “ELSEs” and insane business rules with massive accelerated learning arrives and “steals” our place. What will this future look like?

There are almost 8 thousand people on the street and the justification from what I understand is that they are employees who do not deal directly with the customer. Ok, but these employees need a job, have their livelihood and now, the idea would be to remove all that to put AIs?

Are we building a future where machines will replace us all and how dangerous can that be in reference to science fiction movies? Just like there was the initial concern here at Hive about AI generated content, do you remember? The uproar that it was, with “Downvotes”, heated comments and lots of people in a real witch hunt?

The Hollywood writers' strike could be one more example that fits in part or completely with this, after all, we are already seeing many examples of artistic creations, texts and films being created directly by AIs and so, where does the culture and the process go creation of our mind?

Technology is always thinking of speeding up the time it takes to start and finish something, we all understand that, but how far can it go? Is the scale of this game worth 7,800 fewer people in exchange for processes running faster? How many seconds are these almost 8 thousand people worth?

The future is already among us and there is practically no way to escape it the way we are. I'm afraid of the future, because my work as a programmer will surely be affected one day too, with machines creating code and compiling executable versions and so, what will become of me? Just a memory from someone who worked in programming?

There are countless doubts and many people who will be affected. I hope that somehow we manage to find a balance between progress and job creation, with that, I hope that people can still be in control of the machines, even if it represents a few seconds or minutes more in the most diverse processes that exist in our world.

Bem, finalizada essa introdução mostrando os links para uma leitura focada exatamente na notícia, o que posso dizer é que o futuro tem tudo para ser incrível e, ao mesmo tempo, assustador.

Como vamos imaginar este futuro, onde as pessoas terão que competir com as máquinas / inteligências artificiais? Alguém parou para pensar que são 7,8 mil vagas de empregos, que representam (acredito eu) 7,8 mil pessoas sem um sustento? Pessoas que passaram anos estudando e que poderiam preencher estas vagas?

Para onde vai todo o investimento que realizamos? Anos de estudo, transporte sofrido, dificuldades, madrugadas adentro, desilusões de provas zeradas e a alegria de notas boas, dinheiro utilizado, sacrifícios, enfim, inúmeros consentimentos utilizados para estudar e crescer na carreira profissional.

Então em um lindo dia, chega uma inteligência artificial, robótica, programação cheia de “IFs” e “ELSEs” e regras de negócios insanas com uma aprendizagem acelerada e descomunal e “rouba” o nosso lugar. Como será este futuro?

São quase 8 mil pessoas na rua e a justificativa pelo o que entendi é que são funcionários que não lidam diretamente com o cliente. Ok, mas estes funcionários precisam de um emprego, ter o seu sustento e agora, a ideia seria retirar tudo isso para colocar IAs?

Estamos construindo um futuro onde as maquinas irão substituir a todos nós e o quão perigoso isso pode ser em alusão aos filmes de ficção cientifica? Assim como houve a preocupação inicial aqui na Hive sobre o conteúdo gerado por IA, vocês se lembram? O alvoroço que foi, com “Downvotes”, comentários acalorados e muitas pessoas em uma verdadeira caça as bruxas?

A greve dos roteiristas de Hollywood pode ser mais um exemplo que se encaixa em parte ou totalmente nisso, afinal, já estamos vendo muitos exemplos de criações artísticas, textos e filmes sendo criados diretamente por IAs e assim, para onde vai à cultura e o processo de criação da nossa mente?

A tecnologia cogita sempre acelerar o tempo que levamos para começar e terminar algo, todos entendemos isso, mas a que ponto isso pode chegar? Será que na balança deste jogo, vale a pena 7,8 mil pessoas a menos em troca de processos sendo executados mais rápidos? Quantos segundos vale essas quase 8 mil pessoas?

O futuro já está entre nós e praticamente não tem como fugir dele da forma como estamos. Tenho medo do futuro, pois meu trabalho como programador com certeza também será afetado um dia, com máquinas criando códigos e compilando versões de executáveis e assim, o que será de mim? Apenas uma lembrança de alguém que trabalhou com programação?

São inúmeras dúvidas e muitas pessoas que serão afetadas. Torço para que de alguma forma consigamos encontrar um equilíbrio entre o progresso e a geração de empregos, com isso, espero que as pessoas ainda possam estar no controle das máquinas, mesmo que isso represente alguns segundos ou minutos a mais nos mais diversos processos que existem no nosso mundo.
