My preference for dressing
Every culture has a style of dressing with which they identify. Africans have several styles of dressings depending on the culture they come from. The Gbagyi tribe at one point dressed like the primitive people of ancient time with just a piece of clothes tied around their loins to cover their private areas, but that has changed. Nigeria, in particular, has more than 300 tribes, each with a unique way of dressing, while the western country wear what we term the "English wears", a simple T-shirt and a pant, or a suit. After the colonization of Africa, incorporating the western dressing into our daily life, and at one point, it became our major wear except on special occasions like the traditional festivals.
The western wear has gradually become part of our daily wear and we've pushed aside the need to wear our attires, which we sometimes considered sacred, like a cloth that shouldn't be worn until it was necessary. I don't have our tribal attires even though I fancy them on people. My love for the English wear might be because I grew up wearing them, and them alone. I like to wear a top and a jean except if it was an official place that requires me to dress in corporate. Our traditional dressing(for the Gbagyi people) can not be worn on a normal day, especially during heat season and that's because it's thick and dark.
The reason why I would prefer the western style of dressing to our traditional wears is because it can be worn to many places unlike the traditional wear that doesn't fit for a lot of places. The western dress is simple and easy, the traditional wears don't completely look easy, the western wear is common and I grew up wearing them, this has become a part of me. As much as I fancy our traditional clothes, I still like how cute the English clothes look on me.
Even now, we have found a way to africanize Western style of dressing, we have African print tie designs as well as African-designed suites, and we have come quite far.
Try adding more images to your writeups though, it beautifies it.
It's good to know we've grown this far to having a print tie and a design suite.
Western style of dressing is slowly replacing our cultural way of dressing.
That's true
