Introduction

It seems like Splinterlands has switched to doing Townhall every week to every other week. I think this is probably better as having it every week probably took some time that they could've used to work on the game! Anyways I will be going through my thoughts from the most recent townhall a few days ago.

Chibi Dinos

There was some update on Chibi Dinos. For those that don't know, this is an ETH PFP project. They plan on having their game Primal Hoop on Hive so Splinterlands will be helping them with this using their platform Invennium. Apparently it's going to be part of the GLS ecosystem which kind of makes sense since it's related to sports.

As for my thought on this, I think it's something I will keep my eyes on. I feel like if this is successful then Splinterlands will be able onboard more and more games onto Hive and within the Splinterlands ecosystem which would in a way be able to help Splinterlands get more exposure. There's not really much else to say about this. We just have to wait and see how it goes.

New Roadmap!

Age of Phoenix
Well look at that nice updated roadmap! I want to focus in on Age of the Pheonix which is now until August 1st. They plan on getting land out, reworking ranked battle with sps staking, soulkeep release, new cards and blocking bots from modern!

Seems like in the first half we should be seeing land come out. I feel like this will probably come first since a lot of people have been waiting for this. Personally, I'm interesting in seeing how thats going to affect card prices and rental prices since a lot of cards will be staked on land.

The changes in ranked battles will affect me a lot since I don't have a good enough SPS staking for where I want to play and I'm lacking the funds so I hope they delay this so I can keep earning as much SPS as I can now. I understand that it will be good for the game and I will adjust accordingly to how I need to. We've already seen this have some bot farms dump cards and well we have to wait to see if it's actually not as bad as people think.

Soulkeep will be released and well I don't have any assets in soulkeep as tower defense game wasn't really my interest. There will be ways to earn SPS playing this game and hopefully they make the game have ways to sink dec/sps or something if not we might just be adding more SPS to the supply and people will just sell more of it which I hope isn't the case.

The new cards quarterly promo will be interesting. They did say they wanted to make some more promos more available to everyone ant not just those that have a lot of money so I hope the team considers it for this coming promo. Weirdbeard also mentioned about a new mini set but he said it's not releasing and that it was just starting to work on the mini set.

The gameplay with blocking bots from modern will be an interesting one. I have talked about it countless times before about how it might not affect the private bot owners. As a bot owner myself, I will just move to wild because I don't have as much time to play at the moment outside of brawls but if I do at least I know I can play against humans in modern.

Future
For me I think the future updates seem more exciting! I'm not sure how I feel about new players experience releasing in Q1 2024 but I guess it's ok since everything before that will be focused on building a more fun game and hopefully people will stay around to play.

I'm kind of sad that they are adding the new buildings so late in Q4 which doesn't let me really plan on what I should save my guild power if I need to. I'm not sure about Rebellion being pushed out since Riftwatchers are barely getting sold. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a special promotion on Riftwatchers for Christmas or something. You heard it here first! Finally another mode as well an arena/draft mode will definitely make things take more skill hopefully and the bots won't be as strong this these types of modes where they may need additional tasks than just playing lineups.

The skins and cosmetics seem like an exciting feature as well! I've spent a ton of money on League of Legends skins in the past and I don't see why some people just wouldn't throw some money for skins for a game they like playing. This will be good revenue for the company/game if they really delivered on this.

Concluding Thoughts

We're going to make it guys. Hold on tight and diamond hands. This is not the time to be selling Splinterland assets in my opinion. It's time to accumulate and if you want to sell when we get that high point then you should to hopefully reinvest back in at a lower point. Anyways I'm super hyped about what's going on. I think Splinterlands is doing great with these bigger updates and more focused timeline where all of the goals will be hit instead of having 100s of unfinished or half baked projects they will hopefully deliver 110% on the few projects on the roadmap. I'm looking forward to the coming months and I hope you do as well!
