Pickleball Court Testing @The Moochi Club

image.png

Last Wednesday, I joined two court testing sessions at The Moochi Club. One was from 8pm-10pm and another one was from 10pm to midnight. The crazy thing was that I also ended up playing a 1-4am game at Pickletime with a friend and his friends that wanted to play more. It was labor day the next day so nobody had to work the next day. Anyways, The Moochi Club is about a ten minute drive from my house. It's located in an industrial area and I believe it's another warehouse converted to pickleball courts; this seems to be the trend lately as it's most likely cost effective to do it like this.

This is the door you first see and have to walk up to the stairs to reach the courts. The place has seven courts which you can see from below. All the courts are separated except the last two courts 6 and 7 which don't have a net in-between each other. Court 2 had the most space and I think it was the best court there. Some courts had dead spots and the leveling wasn't as even as it should be. I don't know how I feel about the layout and design of how they did the place. It's kind of ugly with all the netting and just seemed like a super cheap way to do it.

Below are the two photos from the sessions I joined. The first session I joined was quite big. I believe there was around 32 or more players. We had four courts and had eight to a court. As for the other session, it's with a group I usually join social games with. There was only seven of us with one court but some people came later to just chat.

Overall, the place was alright for me. I can't complain much since I didn't pay much for court testing fees. My main issues for this place is the heat. It gets pretty hot fast so if I didn't stand by the standing AC or by a fan, I would get melted fast. Some of the courts didn't seem properly leveled. Lastly, the courts are near the roof so there isn't much height for high lobs. Honestly, I probably wouldn't go back unless it was for free or low cost.

This sport looks like a lot of fun and I have a few friends that play it fairly regularly and are really into it. They keep telling me how easy it is to just pick up and play and how it is very beginner friendly. I haven't played a sport of this sort in many years... perhaps I should give it a go. I'm not young, but I am reasonably fit, so perhaps this is what I need in my life

sup sports guy. This sport is super trending now in Malaysia haha and maybe other parts of the world as well. It really is beginner friendly, age friendly and you should give it a chance. Worst case starting out you may be playing pick the ball :D.
