Nowadays, I have to go to office and I try to be early :')
Punctuality is something that Malaysia is missing. Malaysia has something called Malaysian timing. I won't say everybody but I would say it's quite normal for people in Malaysia to be late. If you're meeting up with friends, you can expect to add an additional 30 minutes to the time they may show up. If someone in Malaysia tells you they are on the way, they are sometimes still home. My tip would be to arrange the time to meet a bit earlier so they might show up at the "actual" time you want to meet up.
Honestly, I have felt that this part of Malaysia culture has influenced me a bit. I've lately ended up a bit late a few times for certain occasions but overall though I still show up early more than I show up late. When I was growing up, I had a sense of being on time or early thanks to my mom. My mom would always get me early to soccer games, school etc. I remember when I was young I asked my mom why are we going to that person's house so early for the party. I don't recall the exact thing she said but she said something about having extra time in case there's any emergencies like maybe forgetting something and being able to have the time to go back to the house and get it.
Personally for me punctuality is important. It shows that I respect people's time and vice versa. Despite this, I understand the Malaysian culture so when someone is late I just kind of accept it as it is. I will do my best to show up early and if I'm late because of traffic etc it is what it is but for important events I will show up early for sure. As for how others feel about punctuality, I think it really depends if they value it or not. Some people don't care and some do.

I think the punctuality stuff of a thing is like that in many countries
Same with my country Nigeria, people like to come to places late except for work tho.

STOPI've got nothing to say, everything nailed me on the bad side. Good side? It's an excuse for whatever reason to be late. We all know KL bad traffic, the only remedy to that is, be there early. When I have any physical meeting required me to be on time, I will usually choose to get out early, be there an hour or two earlier than the appointment time. I can continue my work there whilst waiting for the host, which usually gonna be late by half an hour 🤣
There's one time, a very important meetup took place at Sunway Pyramid. I know I'm going to be late going from Seksyen 14, but since my other party will be departing from Cheras, I expect myself to arrive there first regardless. Meeting time is 1800, by 1759 I am already blasting lounge jazz music in the car and waiting for his call. Lo and behold, he called to inform he's stuck in federal highway 🤣🤣🤣 I was pretending chill at the mall scolded him for being late(rightfully knowing I'm probably few cars ahead of him).
Never would I expect, he's actually ahead of me 😂 by roughly 1815 he called again asking where I am as he couldn't find me at the starbucks? I was rushing from the carpark and said I went to the washroom 🤣
haha i mean traffic is just one example that I hear TT. It's normal though no at least from what I have gone thru the past few years. I not targeting u la . I feel generally that's just the style most people have in Malaysia haha. There sometimes feels like a lack of urgency I think you know what I mean. Of course this is not the case everywhere.

There was a guy who is always late when we were in the university.
One night, a group of arrange to meet and go for dinner at 6pm.
6.05pm, he didn't turn up and we all left without him.
So, you know how likeable you are. 😎
LOL then what did he say? did he still got to the dinner?
He didn't have a chance because we didn't say where we were going.
