Introduction

I had a super busy day today. I was working and today there was an AGM so I was handling the registration, slides and minutes. Finally, got my other work done when coming home and now getting to write this post for battle mage secrets! The theme for this week is Five Alive. In this ruleset, you can only use a maximum of 5 units.

My Strategy & Tips for Five Alive

I'm going to be straightforward here. I don't think there's any specific strategy for five alive. You just want to choose the best units based on the other rulesets. This ruleset by itself doesn't influence as much as some other rulesets since it doesn't limit any card from being played and only limiting the amount of cards to play. With one less unit to play, you just have to choose wisely on the five units you want to play.

The Battle

The battle link can be found here. I had this battle my scholar account, Bltzr-wizard-727. The ruleset for this battle was five alive, back to basics and holy protection. The mana cap was 40 and only the water and life elements were banned.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner , Immortalis - I chose Immortalis as this is usually my go to summoner for a back to basics ruleset.

First Position, Pelacor Mercenary - This is my go to first position in back to basics. I like it for it's great stats with 3 damage, 4 speed and 11 health for 7 mana. Another thing great is that 1 armor can block one whole melee or range damage that could be doing 3-5 damage.

Second Position, Mycelic Slipspawn - I chose this unit for my second position to be a secondary tank. It has great magic damage and with a health of 12 it can help tank more.

Third Position, Ava The Undaunted - Ava was my ranged DPS. This is a good choice in situations where it might be a mirror match so it's good to mixed in some ranged damage.

Fourth Position, Gem Meteor - I chose this as one of my carries. It has amazing speed and damage which is crucial in situations like this.

Last Position, Regal Peryton - I chose Regal Peryton as my finisher. It has magic so it can attack from the first position as well which wouldn't be possible with a ranged unit if it didn't have close range.

Analysis of The Battle

The battle was super close. I honestly thought I was going to lose after I saw the ambush which would allow my opponent to get two free hits before fight even started. You can see how the one armor came in handy as it helped block off one ranged attack of 4 damage. I think I also made a great choice of placing Regal Peryton in the last slot since it can pretty much win most units 1v1 which did end up happening in this battle.
